I have both, but rarely use either these days as I'm at home anyway so can cook things at normal speed!

I think one perhaps overlooked advantage of the pressure cooker is that if you have to dash out to work in the morning you might not even have time to get a slow cooker started, especially if the meal involves pre-browning meat etc.

With the pressure cooking option you can do the whole thing from start to finish in quite a short time when you get in from work.

Also on the odd occasion I have used my (small and ancient) slow cooker, the smell drives the cat mad all day!
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

    Pressure cooker!!!!!!!

I have both but my pressure cooker wins hands down as it suits my lifestyle better.

I have enough to do without deciding what to have for dinner and preparing it all hours in advance. I much prefer the ability to have a pot of stew ready in 20 minutes should I fancy it.

Pressure cooking is said to retain more of the vitamins in veg too.

I suppose it comes down to what suits your lifestyle best?

I expect some people use more than one way
so I should be asking which do you use most often

I love my slow cooker - it's on now with a chicken in it.

However,I have recently been given my parents' pressure cooker which is a bit small for a family, so I tend just to use it to cook the spuds for the mash. I haven't got round to trying anything else in it yet, but as I'm a SAHM, I'm not usually strapped for time.

I would therefore come down on the side of the slow-cooker (also, they're not as scary as a pressure cooker :rotfl: )

I prefer my slow cooker, my mum always used a pressure cooker, and it was very scary!!!! Used to make strange noises, and had to be opened carefully or it could blow up, or release loads of steam and burn!!!! Have never been tempted to use one after those experiences!!!!

I use them all but do cooking from scratch most. Like alisoojo said pressure cooking is the healthiest.
  • Much prefer the slow cooker. As catowen says pressure cookers can be a bit scary.
Mine is on now with a lovely chicken balti in.

Love, love, love my pressure cooker, although I am also quite tempted to invest in a slow cooker, just cos all of you swear by them and there is no pressure cooker recipe thread...:rotfl:

There's one somewhere, though it wasn't well supported and hasn't been indexed. I'll see if I can find it and will edit a link back in here.

    So watch this space :)
