Back from work, while there, I remembered I did go to a couple of concerts when I was young meatloaf - bat out of hell tour was awesome and have seen him a couple of times since. And Gary glitter when he appeared locally:o:eek: (bit embarrassing to admit that one now)

Just doing jacket pots for lunch then I'll play catch up in the bathroom.

    Welcome twiggy and jojo.

Total rubbish night sleep with dd2 up at all hours with headache and tummy ache. Then got up with her this morning to see that a cut she got on her knee 2 weeks back is obviously infected. So have spent 2 hours at walk in centre. Antibiotics prescribed and took her to school.

Have done aldeee and Mr t and am now shattered.

Gave ensuite a super scrub yesterday so only main bathroom to do which I shall tackle later.

Hugs sticks n spoons to everyone feeling it a bit xxx

  • Hi all,

Not much flying done yet today, but I have done the food shop (which requires a trip into town, then to two different supermarkets!) walked the dog and taken him to the vets for his monthly weigh in and treatments so still busy!

I have read through the comments so far on dog training, crates, leads etc. We have a 4 month old springer spaniel and we decided straight away that he would be crate trained as it would give him somewhere to go where the kids can't get to him or bother him, kind of like his 'safe place' if you like. This has worked really well, if he's had enough he will take himself in there and has no objections to being in there while we are out. If we are in the house, the door is left open so he can come and go as he pleases. This is why I think no dog owner should feel bad by using a crate with their dog, provided it is used correctly as previously mentioned. I have also recently started to whistle train him when we are walking and there are a few other dog walkers who we pass on our route that have been happy for me to use the whistle while their dogs are around so he can get some training while there is distraction (he is a friendly dog, however, I would never assume anyone else's dog is friendly or sociable so he goes back on his lead at a safe distance until the owner says they don't mind me taking him off) He will also be very naughty if he is not walked every day and we are up to around 4 miles a day now, but provided he is exercised, he will listen to commands and has picked up the basics (sit, lie down, bed, find a toy etc) very quickly.

Anyway, I probably typed more than I meant to so I had better go and get this bathroom sorted out before the tribe get back!

    Happy Monday :) x

Hi and welcome JoJo and Twiggy - lovely to have you here!!

Just got back from S's assessment and yes, he does have dyslexia and probably dyscalcula (sp) too. She's going to do a full report and I'll then take it to school and sit down with the Senco and S's teacher to come up with some ways to help him. I felt really proud of him today as he was such a good little man - we went to MaccyDs for lunch as a treat and he loved it!

Flying wise, um, not a lot. Really not a lot. Nothing actually. Will get a load on this afternoon - oh, and ironed 3 shirts for J to take back to Basingstoke.

Time for a cuppa now and then will crack on; not sure what with!

My mothers wooflers are all crate trained.. they use it as their safe place too.. sometimes it is just necessary.. and good for them if they are feeling in need of some peace. I kind of wish I had one for myself lol.

DD1 can't do that.. not only is he a big brainless beast.. the only command he responds to is p*$$ off .. People keep saying get him snipped and he will calm down.. he was snipped 18 months ago and isn't even a little bit better.. apparently there were about 8 in the litter with him and they are all unruly.

First load of washing is on third wash - this time with bicarb, in the hope that it gets rid of the smell. I don't see the point of drying it when it smells so horrible. Oddly, although it was unpleasant when I was away, it's much more obvious now I'm hope and there are no other smells to help mask it...

Went shopping, bought food, ate lunch. Should now walk to village shop as I forgot milk. And moving would be sensible.

 when you mentioned it earlier I racked my brains as I know I recommended some mind-mapping software, but I didn't recall any virus stuff. I use Av&st not the micr0soft one.
Sorry to panic you! My mistake: it was lynnejk who recommended the Microsoft free download, which I've installed on the netbook - and it wasn't that but the K@sp€rsky that apparently caused the problem with the external hard drive. The computer engineer kindly came round and sorted it; it gave him a hard time for about 5 minutes, then he found what was wrong and has rectified it :)

    Welcome jojo
    Welcome back greenbee

DH is about to go out and get some switches for his 009 layout on an old ironing board. I might get to the vampire clinic later (they're open until 6.00), if not it will be tomorrow.

Started working on the course again and trying to get my brain back in gear - it's slow today!

Welcome to our new Flyers. Baby steps, ladies - Rome wasn't built in a day, and mess didn't all happen in a day either - just have fun with out little community here, and it'll all come together in the end.;)

Oh and I feel a bad pup mummy as I have had to resort to getting a crate for Banji :( Unfortunately he is getting really unruly even with discipline, which he is totally rebelling against, and we can't eat anything without him trying to eat it as well.

So I've orerded a big crate from Amazon which is coming tomorrow, and as he likes dens anyway he should be okay with it. I'm just beating myself up over it as I vowed I wouldn't EVER get a crate. Willful Jack Russell...sometimes I could scream with him..lol
Natty thank you so much for the Fred, specially when you're doing such intensive therapy. x
I shall do my best this week - though tomorrow will be a write-off Flying-wise, as Mr LW is on annual leave for Imbolc; and I still have the Furry Princesses for another week.:T
Don't feel bad about getting a crate - if it's any consolation, one of my regulars, Ronnie, who is a JRT, considers his crate to be his Safe Place, where he can go and sit when he wants to retreat from the world, and he knows no-one will bother him while he's in there. Used properly, crates can be a very useful tool for some dogs.

I've managed some high-up dusting with the duster-onna-stick today; it started when I spotted a cobweb on the bathroom ceiling, and I thought while I had the duster-onna-stick in my hand I might as well go round the whole place.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
