Minus 1 bit of clutter around
Minus 2 clutter and crumbs/mud/pet hair around
Minus 3 ......oh no I'd better not go there.

Welcome from me too, Twiggy.
Kazwookie, I hope you enjoy your shiny new sink!

DH was very sceptical about the plugs because he said we had used them for the TV in our old house, but he has tried them and [fanfare please!] he is now a happy bunny with good internet access in his man caveThat means I can reclaim the dining room as a place of welcome - it's the first thing you see when you walk into our house.
I have made some progress: done all the S&S items, cleared the spare bed and started WM. However, also taken one step back as I ran the new virus checker on my external hard drive and now I can't save anything onto it  Am about to phone the computer engineer... wish me luck!0 -
I'd like to join you again this week please.
I've already done 2 loads of washing, dried and folded and am just clearing the kitchen now.
I'll have to get round to the bathrooms later because I have some painting to do this afternoon before we loose the light.
Right, here's to it.Trying to keep in budget.

OMG.. I think I've died.. the nursery run, in the wind has just finished me off.. I cant do this for another 5 months (until OH finishes college!) Why the heck did I let CF take 3 years of wasted driving lessons and not just do them myself?? One of the few things I would change if I could do it all again with the benefit of hindsight..

 when you mentioned it earlier I racked my brains as I know I recommended some mind-mapping software, but I didn't recall any virus stuff. I use Av&st not the micr0soft one.
Found the book during my HHC, in the process that went a fair way to decluttering some gibble in the study. I can see the floor in some places, and the desk in others!! I tried really hard to file stuff as I went along, and now my tax return stuff is more organised it was easier.
Hung out 2nd lot of washing and brought another lot in.
Will check book for what I wanted but may complete the report after lunch.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
Nicki.. My daughter has one like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Non-Pull-Harness-Assistance-X-Small-X-Large/dp/B015IWKPW2/ref=sr_1_3?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1454320972&sr=1-3&keywords=dog+body+harness for her monster muttley.. he won't walk nicely at all and has broken several leads and harnesses and just runs off, he is a blooming pest.
Is it not still recommended to change direction each time they pull? Or make them sit or something??
I've added that to my wish list so I won't loose it. I've tried the changing direction, I've tried sit/lay downI'm going to give treats another go, or maybe a smaller squeaky toy as he loves them. Earlier he walked at my heel no issues through the house while I held his favourite toy. I think the fact he goes hyper when he sees his harness/lead come out may be a big factor. So regular walking, treats, and maybe a squeaky bone (if I can find one that will survive, he's destroyed 3 cheap ones) to follow is my plan for this year.
Nicki - I've got an unruly jack Russell too! Recently bought him a canny collar as he pulls so much, chokes himself to the extent his tongue goes blue but still doesn't car! I'm finding that it works wanders! He doesn't like it and dives on every patch of grass to rub his face and he can hook it off with his paw, but he's slowly learning that if he gets it off I put it straight back on!
Welcome! Just been to the official website...I love it! I may have to get one....but I'll have a think about it first.
I've done some exercise on the wii, went to put an exercise dvd on and we have a double image which makes it awful to try and watch. You can hardly read the menu. I've had the manual out, I've tried different cables, and I know it does the same on the portable TV in DD's bedroom (I honestly thought it was that TV but it looks like I was wrong) . I'm going to go ask on the techie board but I'm thinking we may need a new dvd player....thank goodness for storecards which I know I can pay off before the 0% runs out.
When I'm done on here I'm putting my phone on charge, going for a shower, then I best have some lunch and get the shopping list etc written out for tonight. DD is going to help me do the shopping as I need lots of bulky/heavy things and I need to put the breadmaker on as well. I can already see it being one of those days. At least my ironing is done (and I've decluttered a pair of holey jeans to the sewing pile so be made into a knitting bag

Leave his lead in his sight all the time.. it wont be so exciting then. and pick it up and put it down sometimes so he realises he isn't going out every time you pick it up..
dinner fed to beasties..
I need to do the school run later so I'm doing absolutely nothing this afternoon or I wont be able to go get Squeak. I may just knit!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Nikki, all my dogs have pulled really, really strongly when I first got them and all of the online tips work if used consistently, provided the dog gets enough exercise. The turning around and walking in the opposite direction as advocated by Pigpen will make you and the dog dizzy to begin with, but they learn within minutes that it makes life better for them to stop pulling, and then you'll need to do it on the next walk far fewer times, the one after that even less and so on.
With my dogs I absolutely know that the reason they pulled was because they hadn't had enough walks for a long, long time (if ever in a couple of cases), and here they get four or five, or as many as it takes, for the first few weeks and then the pulling just stops. We go out in all weathers because we have to, and I've learned to not mind getting wet - I have a vast selection of dog walking jackets. Kelpie has this kind of harness, loves it, and their website is brilliant on how to choose the right harness.
I think he has a damaged windpipe, which would be from pulling in the past with the lead just attached to a collar and I'd never, ever go back to that set up again for any dog. I got his harness with him from Bath Cats and Dogs Home; they chose it and fitted it before I was allowed to take him away. That way he got the right one, and they had the profit from it. All good.
As for crates, I was like you, Natty, I was never going to have one. They're cruel if they're used wrongly or to punish dogs but Kelpie goes into his because I'm training him to love it. There's an adaptil puffer next to it, on 24 hours a day, which he needs to keep him calm. He gets marrow bones in the crate because he's snarly with his bones if the cat walks by, so it's the only way to give him anything like that safely. He thinks his crate's great!
The cheapest solution is a stair gate and I found one in the local small ads which, to be honest, is much the best first stop solution - Kelpie accepts it completely and it means he can be left to roam in a room where he's perfectly content.
Good luck, both of you with the training.Better is good enough.0 -
I'm finding it all but impossible to keep up with Fred at the moment, but I'm loving the photos of webs, hats and dogs; happy belated birthday to the gorgeous Valli Girl; healing vibes for CY; *cold-be-gone vibes* for those afflicted, *ex-tooth healing vibes* ditto and *job security vibes* for those who need it - a worrying number it seems.
Superking turned around, new lodger in, shower room cleaned, now clearing urgent paperwork.Better is good enough.0 -
