  • Argh!

My day off is busier than when I'm at work!

School run, hairdressers, dog walked, lunch and Internet food shop at same time, school to hear children read, now I have 30 mins at home before its time to take the girls to swimming.

    No point writing list!

Bossy great news re vr, hope it happens to me!

Does anyone have experience of working for, or even being, an optician?
    I have a mystery.
Been trying to get my varifocals properly clean for ages, and always there seem to be some smudges on them - finally today it dawned on me to put my gaming specs on and inspect my varifocals - and it transpires both lenses have a little tiny circle with a figure 20 under it near the outside edge, and another tiny circle with a Greek "sigma" symbol near the inside edge. I have no idea why these are there, but they will not clean off. Obviously these are the "smudges" I have been seeing; so it looks like I shall have to take them in to the optician's on Saturday and see if they can sort it out for me.

Could you ring the optician and see if it's something they could resolve over the phone. It's actually on the lenses I take it and not a little sticker?

It's definitely not a sticker. Unfortunately, I am completely phobic about phones, so ringing them isn't an option; I'd have to ask Mr LW to ring for me, and of course he'd be at work when he did that, so he wouldn't have the specs to hand. We go into town on Saturday anyway, for the F&V run, so I'll pop in and see them then.;) It's just so weird, and I never had anything like that happen before.

The lenses also have a special coating as my eyes are very light-sensitive, so I'm afraid of damaging that.

Sorry to be absent after I said I'd be in this week - we're selling our house and the EA rang and said she had a load of viewings for this Friday, so I have been running around like an idiot making everything look good, and that's involved painting, decluttering, sorting out the garage, everything.
SO I haven't stuck to the plan but I have been very very busy, and the house looks a lot better for it I have to say. Next week a friend is going to come round and give me a hand really decluttering, something which I need to do as I don't want to move to much stuff (it's going to be really expensive)
    Trying to keep in budget.

LW I had the same thing with last pair of varifocals. I took them back and was told it is usual to have the letters as it shows them which your lenses are when they check them. Mine had a s in a circle. I will check my current ones and see if they have anything on them in the morning.

    Stinky cold here. Basics done.
I attended a job fair but they only had jobs in care, army, Avon and blind selling (window variety not white stick) It took a lot of getting ready only to waste my time.

  • Pigpen thats great news about DS3, keeping everything crossed that this works for him. My DS1 is doing a "fighting chance" project at our local CAB and the lady who is helping him is great. We are just hoping that he can get some kind of summer job for now. We live in a very touristy area so there must be something out there.

Worked until 3pm, came home, walked the dog, made shepherds pie, carpet swept everywhere, tidied where necessary, went to my gym class, called at Li*l, came home, had a bath and now collapsed on the sofa in my jim jams.

kaz.. poor girl must be shattered.. I'd tell them to sod off and not go back! Baby is obviously needing a bit more cooking!

YL .. I am jut so relieved he actually got a bit enthusiastic about something (anything!!) He has been to DD1's and spent several hours twittering at her about it.. I think he is hoping to work at the nursery where Grandpink is.. we shall see.. but for the first time in months I see a glimmer of hope.
