Only Spud or Sol?
Go to Start, Run, type "cmd" and hit enter. Then type the get_iplayer stuff in the box that pops up.
(Or hold down the Windows key, hit R, and type "cmd" and enter there if that's easier.)0 -
Snow, sorry, any of you are welcome. I did what you said. Got the black box with white writing.
C:\Users\Acer> I typed in get_iplayer--type=radio"Wogan" pressed return.
Got the message get_iplayer--type is not recognised as an internal or external command, Operable programme or batch file.
I'm slowly losing the will to live now.
I'm not sure I can be bothered to listen to radio programmes if it's so difficult.
Tanks for all your help but Inthink it's beyond my capabilitiies!
Thanks anyway, mime of for a nights sleep and will come back and have one more go tomorrow.0 -

Oh, so close! You're missing a few spaces in the command. There's a space after "get_iplayer" and one after "radio". Where the arrows are:get_iplayer --type=radio "Wogan" ^ ^

Download get-iplayer installer
http://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer/download#windows
Once installed open up a command window
Then type in the command I listed.
It will download the show from the BBC.
It might take a while must let it run.
Then open it like any other audio file.Laters

Should it not be:
Once installed run the get_iplayer program which will open it's own command window and then type in the command.0 -

Oh, it looks like the Windows version includes a shortcut that opens a command prompt in the program directory. Weird. I don't know why they didn't just add the directory to the PATH environment variable... :-/
In that case:To start the CLI go to All Programs -> get_iplayer -> Get_iPlayer on the Start menu. In the Windows 8 Start screen, click the Get_iPlayer tile. The CLI will launch in a console window. The working directory of the console window will be the get_iplayer installation directory, typically C:\Program Files\get_iplayer or C:\Program Files (x86)\get_iplayer on 64-bit Windows. The CLI expects to operate in that directory, so do not change to another location.0 -
I did tap the space bar in between the words as you indicated but my cursor wouldn't move on, so I assumed that this was correct, never assume anything!
I will have another go later today but I have lost all enthusiasm for this now, lol. I'll give it one more shot!
Thanks to all the others who have given advice. It's all very confusing for a non techie oldie when lots of differing advice comes in, but be assured that I am grateful for your patience.0 -
Command window how quaint
Why not just use the Web PVR Manager?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Good luck! Just checking, but you have downloaded and installed get_iplayer already, haven't you?
Installing it should give you an icon to open up the command prompt where you can type the get_iplayer command.bjbyorkshire wrote: »Thanks to all the others who have given advice. Don't worry -- it's confusing for anyone to get all sorts of different advice and suggestions!0 -

Ha ha! You're not a fan of "proper" operating systems, then?
EDIT: Actually, I just had a look and it looks pretty nifty if you like to avoid the command line.0
