Possible error or do the numbers change?
Terry Wogan Special showing as 129030 -
Ooh errrrrr, I'm really grateful for all your suggestions and I was working towards doing what you've suggested when I find I have another little problem...
My PC is plugged into the mains, at the bottom right is the battery icon with a charger showing 100% full but there is also a Red Cross saying "consider changing your battery". Is this a crucial problem? If I don't replace the battery but always use the PC in a mains socket will I really need a new battery. The laptop is 7 years old, I don't fancy spending a lot on a new battery, but I'm not keen to buy a new PC until Windows 10 is more friendly.
Advice needed please.0 -

Probably worth creating a new thread, otherwise people who can help might not see it down here.
But a quick web search suggests that sometimes this can be an error. It might be worth running the laptop on battery power till it's flat, then fully charging again to see if the warning resets.
If not, it means your battery is down to 40% of its original capacity. If you don't care about the battery not holding charge for that long, then it should work for a while yet... about 2 years, 9 months and 18 days at the current rate of deterioration.
I'm not sure, but I'd guess that when the cells are totally dead, the battery electronics will prevent them from charging at all, but should still pass current through to the laptop. So... I think it would still work if it was plugged in all the time.0 -

I'm still finding my way around and use the guide below, I find it clearer to use.
https://squarepenguin.co.uk/guides/
I've just downloaded 13072, for the mesmerising 1st story in 'The Moth Radio Hour'.
29 days left at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06z8f2pget_iplayer --type=radio "Wogan"
Gives me 12902 Terry Wogan Special - - , Radio 2Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Also if you want a read...
type in:get-iplayer --type=all > listings.txt
That will give you a 8mb txt file with everything you could possibly download from the BBC, I'm 20,000 lines in and still on Radio 4! (over 200 entries for Desert Island Disks alone!)Laters

Spud or Sol, please can you talk me through how to get to the place where I type in the links you both kindly posted. I'm not sure I'm getting there.
I click VCL media player in my files. This brings up the on screen box with a traffic cone in the middle. Bottom left corner is a right pointing arrow, click on this. Box opens and top line has files showing File, Disc, Network, Capture Device, can you guide me from here?
Thanks if you can be bothered.0 -
