  • Apologise all, the last section should have read "ministry of JUSTICE" not defence-predictive tx is great when it works
  • How are you getting on with the complaint to Admiral? I'm in a similar situation and have decided to just comply as I can't run the risk of being made liable but I feel the whole situation was extremely unfair. I may be naive but I thought I was following Admiral's policy, I had no idea I was being passed off to a separate company. I really feel like I need to prevent this happening to others.

So if I have a non-fault accident but the TP's insurers aren't playing ball I ring up my insurer, let's say Admiral, and they tell me that Albany will deal with my non-fault claim, then what exactly am I supposed to do if I want my insurer to help me but not Albany? Still confused as Admiral told me I will lose my excess if I don't use Albany?? Do I just have to try and go through small claims myself, use an alternative claims management company or what?
  • 1- You use your insurance cover, pay your excess and claim that back, or
2- You use Albany and pay no excess, or
3- You appoint your own claims management company and pay no excess, or
4- you fight the world yourself via the small claims court, or

admiral look to be trying to scare you into using Albany (do a search on them on here and across the net to see what problems people have with Albany)

If you claim off your policy then you don't lose your excess as long as you were blameless (and you know the third party so can claim off them).

It's not covered by your insurance policy, so you pay it and then reclaim it along with your other uninsured losses from the guilty third party.

As you are with Admiral you probably have legal cover with your policy and you can use that to get your excess back.

OK thanks for the advice; last time I claimed Admiral definitely made it sound like I had no choice but to go with Albany; they didn't say I could leave the claim with them or that they would claim my excess back; just said I would lose it (and possibly NCB as well, I can't remember) so had to go with Albany.

Has anyone had a no fault claim and managed to get Admiral themselves, not Albany, to deal with everything?

When I had a no-fault accident a couple of years ago, Admiral didn't give me another choice apart from going through Albany. To be fair, didn't really have any issues with Albany

I had a non fault claim a few years ago and I refused to go with Albany as I'd used them before and was not happy with them. Admiral tried to talk me out of it but when I insisted they agreed and handled everything. I had to pay my excess and claim it back as an uninsured loss which took a few months but it was no biggy.
