Yesterday there was another Super(ish) Tuesday in the primaries, with five states voting. Result, Trump and Clinton win big.

Trump won all five states and looks a bit more likely to win an actual majority, whilst it's getting to the point where Sanders doesn't even have an arithmetical chance of winning.

Betfair has Trump at 1.3 to win the GOP nomination from here (3-1 on in old money) and has Ms Clinton at 1.05 (20-1 on) to win nomination.

They have any Republican at 3.8 to be next President. That looks quite generous to me as nobody has incumbency advantage.

    Looks about right to me.

    What's that? About 3-1?

I really don't get decimal odds.

    Bit under 3-1.

To convert decimal odds you subtract 1 and add 'to 1' at the end. Thus 8.0 is 7 to 1, 13.5 is 12.5 to 1 or 25 to 2. 1.3 is 0.3 to 1 or 10 to 3 on or about 3-1 on.

Digital/decimal odds include your original stake in your returns. I first used them backing a horse at the trots at 1.1. The briefest glance at the form had it as an easy winner and thus it was. I was livid when they gave me $110 back from my $100 stake. Who backs a horse at 10-1 on?????

    Thanks for that.

    Twas ever thus.

The thing that calmed me down is the realisation that the biggest bet I'd made up to that point in my life had just come in and I'd won! Better to win $10 than lose $100 :D

Subsequently I've done a fair bit of betting on Betfair on the Test Match as there are a couple of mispriced events, a bit like the old betting scam of holes in one in the golf. I've not done it for a while but I will go back to it.

Decimal odds also make the maths easier when matched betting.
    I think....

Trump swept the board yesterday, I've a thread that has tracked his rise, and I personally think he will be POTUS. Only he can shake up the cosy status quo and bring back jobs to the US. Hillary is just more of the same old and wont change a thing.

I realise he's a bit nutty, ok a lot nutty, but the outsider / think outside the box type that is capable of change is worth the risk

The one big problem that Trump has though is that women don't like him. I wonder if this will turn into the first ever US election fought on gender grounds. To me, as a woman, he comes across as a total misogynistic jerk.

If I was a Democrat and had a vote, I'd definitely vote Hillary. If I was a floating voter, I would probably vote Hillary. If I was a Republican and he's the candidate, I just wouldn't turn up. I just don't think he will carry all of the female Republican vote that he needs if he gets the nomination.

    Women hate Hillary in spades.

Trump is the start of the paradigm shift people yearn for. The tired political establishment's services are no longer required across the west.
