Always do the 'supermarket shuffle'. That is visit multiple supermarkets either weekly or in rotation. IE Where I live Morrisons is cheapest on veg (fresh and frozen) and they do some pack sizes others don't. Tesco is cheapest on meat and household stuff.
I've saved a bomb doing this.

Yep, or cycle. I cycled for the first time at the weekend with only a backpack to put shopping in. Why does shopping get heavier after 10 minutes of carrying it?

It's almost half an hour walking home for me - and I can't balance shopping in two hands because I need one for my walking stick.

The fact that my hand is going to be cut to bits by the time I get home concentrates the mind wonderfully on questions like "Do I really need this enough to want to carry it all the way home?"...

Why is it that when I was young (early 20's) I had one of these and loved it. Now I am 40 I'd be way too ashamed to ever get one again

Dunno moggins but I could most certainly done with one of those with the seat before I had my operation. I'm much more mobile and independant now so I'm staving off the day. But now that I know they exist with built in seats you can be sure I shan't forget.

MATH

Don't feel shame - go and get one and too heck with it. You could print off some jaunty slogan to pin on it to give peeps a laugh something like "My other make-up bag is bigger";) or "Could my bum fit in this?":p . There are other 'youngish' MSER's who pull their wally trolly with pride - more power to their tartan tugging elbow I say.
