What an excellent thread - nearly all been said already. All I can think of is check out the dented tins shelf and reduced-to-clear chiller cabinet before starting your main shop - you might be able to adapt a planned meal to include something with a saving!
Also, when you've finished going round the store, return to the reduced chiller cabinet just before going to the checkout, to see if anything new has been added.
Btw I can't wait to "feel" old enough for a wally trolley.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

There are other 'youngish' MSER's who pull their wally trolly with pride - more power to their tartan tugging elbow I say.
Are you suggesting that Mr squeaky wears make up? He just doesn't seem the type to me0 -

Oy, it's not tartan it's sexy brown vinyl!
My wally trolley has been going strong since 1993 which is more than can be said for most cars. I'm dying to buy a snazzier model (preferably in goffick black) but my moneysaving conscience won't let me scrap the brown one, no matter how hideous it is.
I DEFINITELY need a bumper sticker for it! :rotfl:0 -
Just one thing, though.
If you buy a trolley - check the wheels! Make sure they have nice soft tyres.
Why?
Well, I bought one of the folding ones - recommended on THIS board, some time ago. It looks so innocent, nice compact size, you can fold it up & put it in a bag for the journey to the shops. Nice, navy blue. What's my problem?
The wheels are hard, & they make the most awful rumbling noise if the pavement isnt totally smooth
You can hear me coming up the road for miles!
You won't be surprised to learn I hardly ever use the thing......0 -
Don't go up an aisle in a supermarket if there's nothing up there on your list.
Re the shopping trolley: If I had a supermarket within walking distance, I'd certainly get one again. You can hang them onto those little hooks just in front of the kiddie seats on the supermarket trolleys. I had one when I was first married and couldn't afford a car. It was on my birthday present list and my mom got it for me. It didn't have a seat, though.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -
Check this link out for some trendy shopping trolleys. Don't know whether they are available in the UK but I'm going to see what they say. Pretty nice prints etc for a trendy shopping trolley.

A little story about shopping trollies...
My friend went to live in Paris last year. She was moving into a small apartment and sold her car in the UK as she didn't need it in the city. Her elderly mum was worried about how she would do her shopping and offered to let her take her shopping trolley to carry her groceries back home. She laughed out loud and declined such an 'uncool' offer, even though it was well-intentioned.
I went to visit her last month and Paris is full of very trendy people pulling along very trendy shopping trollies! I was amazed. My friend had to eat her words. now she is thinking of buying one!

I am quite keen to get one now, would save me shelling out on trips to the Chiropractor. What I spend in a year going to one would probably get me a nice one. I'm heading to France in July so shall see what like the shopping trollies are like there
. Might treat myself if I can find a foldaway one

Also, only go to the aisles where your planned purchases are.
