It will be interesting if this OP gets a Wright Hassall letter:

Wright Hassall 'acting as POPLA' believe no grace period was given (they got one right!).

OP, check your inbox as I've sent you my POPLA verification code to use in any further appeals.

Also check out my original thread below. My vehicle was parked on the same Street as yours and the appeal was accepted on the grounds of grace period (evidence showed the vehicle had stopped for around 40 seconds!). Hope this helps and good luck.

  • Hi All,

Just bumping this thread up with an update -

Having lost the 2 POPLA appeals and complaining to BPA and IPC. (nothing fruitful has come out from that.

I've been getting Debt Collection letters over the laste few months which I've ignored.

I've now received a letter from Gladstones Solicitors (Letter Before Claim) demanding me to pay £150 and to acknowledge the letter otherwise they will take me to court.

How serious should I take this?

    Thanks

earlier CM mentioned a WH letter , this is the equivalent but from the IPC brigade (they all ppppppppppppp in the same pot at that new golf club)

so like this thread , same advice

Yep, respond to that letter robustly and expect a court claim to follow anyway (no biggie, may as well get it heard at a proper court!). Search the forum for 'Gladstones' and read what happens next and examples of how to reply. You will then need to read defences and I do suggest you read the Parking Prankster's blogs about Gladstones many bungled cases over the past year or more! They are (it seems) pretty awful at producing clear evidence and bad too at the paperwork/admin of a claim.

Take confidence from the cases they've lost because they are PCNs cancelled, at long last, with the Defendants then able to claim some costs.

  • A further update on this saga (almost a year to the day of the original PCN)

A claim has come through from Gladstones via Northampton County court requesting I reply within 14 days.

Any advice for next steps please....

Some of these companies appear to have a death wish.

If they lose in court, (which is by no means unlikely), they will have to add another £400-500 to the costs of trying to collect £100 from an appellant who is no pushover, and who might well sue them for wasting his time/DPA issues.

Their costs, if the come up against a judge with a bit of common, could well rise to over £1,000, cf Miss Jopson.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
