Faulty boiler / faulty maintenance - who is responsible for gas bill?

How is that a silly claim when I have proof?
If you have nothing further to contribute then kindly see yourself off the thread.0 -

I don't believe you have any proof, but even if you do I doubt very much that it will amount to anything significant, whereas you do have evidence that units are being accumulated when you think no gas is being used - this is the issue that you should be addressing, and that should be taken up with your supplier.0 -
15+ engineer visits, start reads and end reads over this period are proof enough in my eyes that I did not have sufficient service that worked. How can I use approx. £150 gas if the boiler is broken for the majority of the time.
Again if you have nothing to contribute just go away and troll elsewhere.0 -

ok thanks, I have tried twice and they do not respond about this. I am in process of raising this with Housing Ombudsman but they are being really slow.
do I not have any consumer rights? If I buy a pair of shoes and wear them twice they are faulty and I can get a refund. Why does similar not apply here?0 -
And this is not true, while I have had no gas the meter has still been turning and clocking up digits. The HA have not provided me with an explanation for this but over Christmas when I was away for a few days kept going and one weekend when I had no usage it clocked up 7 units, they wont address this. The heating is off, no hot water is being used is it right that it still keeps going?
I don't think you will get anywhere with your claim that the engineers have used the excessive amount of gas during the repairs.
Picking up on the last point you make if you are using no gas then the meter should not be turning. It is this problem you need to look at.
Is this still happening now, perhaps if it is still doing this it might have been doing so over the 2 years.
Take some meter readings and check for any advance when you know that you are not using gas, keep a written record of the readings.
If this is the case forget as I have said trying to blame the engineers and report the suspect faulty meter to your supplier.0 -
You asked:
...and I suggested you should find out why the meter still runs when no gas is being used:The heating is off, no hot water is being used is it right that it still keeps going?
You agressively responded saying you had proof:No it's not.
Why don't you address that rather than making up silly claims like "the engineers used the gas so I shouldn't pay for it"?
As I said, you have no proof. How is that a silly claim when I have proof?Proof of what?
Proof of the engineers using the gas?
You don't even have proof of a £400 gas bill - although I agree, it is good to anticipate these large expenditures.

I will take note of your suggestion.Again if you have nothing to contribute just go away and troll elsewhere.
Good luck with whatever you do - but start saving.0 -

Thanks, I am looking for a magnetic pen and paper as we speak to take note of the reading everyday before I go to work. I will focus on this point now and use the compensation they have offered to pay part of the gas bill until I can get the ombudsman to look at it.0 -
As a very non-boiler skilled person how can that even be contested though, surely if it was that simple people would just run the boiler then claim the meter is broken since its 'advancing without use' surely that's what the meter is designed to measure in the first place???0
