So, thus far I have been to see the bank manager - he wasn't sure there was much point in changing date of DD but will see what he can do. No biggie if he doesn't. He actually asked my legal opinion on a claim he has - ha ha! I told him the boy said I've become stupid since I left my job (obv he was joking).

Spent slightly more in b**ts than intended but still only £11.06 for me as the boy picks up rest of the tab.

Whilst was out got a message from him saying I needed to be in at 3 if poss as the guy coming to take old many fridge out of shed and dump it - £30! or £15 each! Not too happy at that extra expense but had to be done at some point I guess.

Spent £2 in the pound shop on 6 toffee crisps then £2.50 on two portugese custard tarts as the boy loves them so we will have one later tonight. Met bestie for coffee, thankfully he paid as he decided to eat.

Borrowed a book from the library so need to finish the one I'm reading (only 100 or so pages to go) then will start that.

All in all, a fairly productive day so far and will go for a run around 5 before making dinner.

Bumped into someone from work - hilarious as said the girl who got big pay rise has now got my office - she is going round telling everyone it's because there is a certain level of status she has been elevated into with my leaving - everyone else knows it's purely so they can keep an eye on her and make sure she is working for her 5 figure pay rise!!! Apparently she's already in trouble as a task which I gave her on behalf of the big boss about 3 weeks ago (and took the trouble and time to explain to her) she passed to someone else and it hasn't been done. I think (and hope) she is going to realise pretty damn quickly that if you get the benefit of a rise they expect you to work for it - they basically own you!

  • today is not going to be very MSE as having hair done - full head of highlights and cut and blow! Much needed as not had it done since August I think and my hair looks like an old person's as it is all falling out at the sides - think taking some of the weight off may help.

Then this pm I need to sort out the stuff for files in spare room or it won't get done this week and will bleed into the time off I've earmarked for writing!!

Other than that, think we just need some milk if I can stop myself baking yet another cake!!!

Thanks Lou! and I bet you've never looked back?!

Hair was £126 - eek!!! but it really did need doing and looks nice. Have had loads off the length!

Dropped my watch in for battery replacement - will be £10 and pick up friday - took it to the place I bought it from because when I went to a very well known jewellers they quoted me £60!!!

Bought some bits from supermarket. They had our fave pizza on reduced - down from £4.25 to £1.99 as was use by today plus I got another 40p off as was one of our picks. Whacked that in the freezer as may do for fri night when we are packing.

Also got some milk (as needed) and own brand cornflakes as want to make us a dessert for tonight - basically, someone taught me this years ago - layers of cornflakes, natural yoghurt, honey and a small amount of grated chocolate. Also got some crumpets (saw some advertised on tv last night coated in lashings of butter and just had to have some!), and 3 x packs of chocolate bars, all of which were £1 and had 4 in each pack - 25p per bar you can't really beat (premium brands) so can put a couple in our hand luggage for when we travel as I have a tendency to get "hangry"!!!

Got a lovely card off my mum and dad today saying well done and that they were proud of me and £40 of amazon vouchers from my credit card points. We need a shredder so thinking of ordering that with them but we also need a mattress topper and quite a few deep bed sheets as we got a new mattress not so long ago but it's really thick so the usual bedsheets don't fit properly and keep ripping!

Noticed some damage to front and back of my car so the boy has been told off! As we both use it I am glad I didn't get anything really nice/expensive as I expect we will be trading it in for something else in a year or two anyway.

Oh and contract for new job arrived! Have had a squiz but says they will be contacting my old employer - that's fine but am going to email new one to say I will sort out when get back from holiday as want to leave a bit of time between my leaving and having to say, oh I've found something else! Or do I just tackle it head on and tell them now?!

Popped up to see the boy's mum but she wasn't in which was a shame - was hoping she had his niece and nephew today as they are soooooo cute!

All in all a good morning so far!

  • got up very late this am - 11am!!! But is the only lie-in I've had since I finished work and I clearly needed it. Cat snuggled up to me which was nice.

Got to do a 30 minute run in a mo - fuelled up with a toffee crisp (no idea why but it seems to work) and a coffee so will do that then probably just a chicken sandwich for lunch (don't think the boy has made me anything).

This pm I MUST sort those papers! Didn't touch them yesterday and somehow wasted the afternoon and that's ok as this week was always going to be a relaxed sorting week but I really want to get on with my books so don't want to eat into that time with sorting!

did my 30 min run - almost killed me - legs sooooooo heavy and not sure why. Anyway, at least I did it.

Sorted out some of my papers - think I need some proper files and a hole punch. Have to go out tomorrow so will get those then and transfer some over.

Today should be a NSD. We got the bill for the toilet and boiler yesterday - 251.59. Thankfully the boy has said he will pay half.

We do need some more milk (I get through loads due to tea and protein shakes!) so will get the boy to get some later.

Got to go to girls' night tonight, the girl who isn't speaking to me will be there. Taking a bottle of pink prosecco but won't drink any myself as not drinking at the moment due to training.

Going to hoover lounge and kitchen and read my book this pm. Not massively enjoying it but not long to go until can move onto something else - borrowed from library - very MSE!

Went to girls' night and it was fun in the end. The girl who wasn't speaking to me was fine and we all had a laugh. Ate far too much ice-cream and chocolate though but didn't drink.

Had a lazy morning this morning and finished my book "a week in December" - have to say I was disappointed but perhaps I am just not intelligent enough to "get it". Anyway, have another one I borrowed from the library "getting rid of matthew" which is probably much more up my street - ha ha!

Dropped the cat at the cattery - always sad but at least he will be safe and well looked after there.

Picked up my watch so that was £10. Then went to WR and got the boy 3 boxes of lindt for valentines day (slightly over the £10 limit we had set but they are his fave) and some sweets for our travels plus some more milk!

Then to b**ts and got a tangle teaser and some eye make up primer and a new mascara and cosmetic sponge and 2 x deodorant - plus prescription - came to £30 but everything was needed bar the primer really.

Having a chinese tonight but take out so will be cheap-ish and need to pack shortly!

Got the electrician's bill - £51 so split between us not too bad.

Not the best day MSE wise but suppose it could have been worse!!

    Happy Friday peeps!

  • I've found you! Happy New diary and Happy Break From Employment!

Sounds like you are doing really well which is awesome! Must be lovely to be able to enjoy your time off knowing that you have a new job start in a few months... no stress of job hunting! I love how life just works out sometimes.

How are you finding running? Enjoying it? I love reading Runners world magazine but it still hasn't managed to inspire me to get out there recently! LOL

As for work papers, just go for it. They'll need the reference anyway and I imagine it will just be sent to HR to confirm your employment dates and position usually.

    Have a great one!

  • thanks LG!

So, am away skiing (or not, as I hate skiing). Sat in the chalet reading books and constantly eating!!!!

Not managed to run at all this week due to the altitude (which made me throw up yesterday) so will have to really knuckle down when get back Sat.

Other than that, nothing to report!

  • back from skiing - thank god. Was nice in some respects to be away but in a chalet of 15 you don't get proper sleep and I am a nightmare if I don't sleep properly.

So, did 8.4 miles this morning - absolutely exhausted and my back and hips hurt so think tonight will be an epsom salts bath.

For valentines the boy and I set a £10 limit this year so he got me a little bum bag thing for running and I got him 3 boxes of lindt balls (his favourite). He was supposed to be cooking steak and dauphinois potatoes tonight but as we were delayed yesterday he is going to cook something else and have our "valentine's" meal next weekend instead.

We have to do our grocery shop today. Expecting it to be expensive as I am cooking 4 meals from scratch this week as now back from skiing and been off work for 2 weeks, the proper stuff I wanted to do whilst off kicks in.

Also have to start writing tomorrow - eek! Hoping it flows easily.

That's about it - enjoy the rest of your weekends xx
