Are Nationwide BS the slowest TopCashBack payers?

Options
I've been waiting six months for cashback from Natonwide with the payment being Confirmed shortly after opening a current account.

Estimate is 12 weeks to pay out, its now been 26 weeks and no sign of any payment.

All TCB do is say they are waiting for the cash, to pass it on to me. I don't get any sense TCB are actually doing anything to chase it up.

I know its not guaranteed but what's the point of Nationwide making offers through TCB when they don't seem to want to honour the bargain? What are they waiting for?!

I think I will contact Nationwide directly which TCB told me not to do but really what have I got to lose, apart from £84.

  • A few of us have been waiting since July last year for this as we were discussing it in another thread. Yes its stupidly slow but I believe we will get the money eventually and we used TCB to top up our deal, not because of the deal. I've had non payouts before and its annoying but it was still the cheapest and the cutback was just an added sweetener

August for me and confirmed, only £35. Thought it could of been a condition of keeping account open for three months. But this has passed anyway. :(

I have never been mis sold anything but i have bought a few things i didnt need!
  • They're just as bad on Quidco. Was opened in August, still hadn't become payable by the beginning of Jan, so Quidco paid out and said they'll continue chasing it themselves, so kudos to Quidco for that!

I have a Nationwide account that I switched to from Co-op Bank that I never use and opened a TSB account in preference. Nationwide falls short in a lot of areas. As far as I'm concerned the "BS" in their name stands for something other than "Building Society".
  • Today Nationwide have cashback offers on three current accounts just as they have for months.

Considering its an ongoing and longstanding offer I can't understand why they don't pay out or why they think its acceptable to treat customers this way, 6 months !!!!!!!

You can add me to that list. Did the transaction in July, didn't confirm till Oct/Nov and still not paid.

Hey ho, sure it will arrive eventually.
  • i had similar issue with Quidco, when i raised issue Quidco paid out before even receiving funds from nationwide.
  • I have phoned Nationwide CS and after a manager was consulted have been told that Nationwide have no affiliation whatsoever with any cashback site including TCB and that if any cashback is paid none of it comes from Nationwide.

Also there is no one at Nationwide that can help me further as no affiliation.

So brick wall well and truly met.

Now I will go back to TCB and tell them that Nationwide say they have no affiliation with them. Any T&C attached to getting the CB are solely made up by TCB also!

I had the same nonsense with Santander CS, until I escalated the case to the complaint department, who, after consulting the marketing department, paid pretty quickly.
  • Just a thought. Whilst the money paid as cashback must actually be paid by the merchant, such as Nationwide, I wonder if the money stalls with however many affiliates are involved, on its slow and perilous journey to the long suffering customer!?
