Hi everyone :hello:
Like TOG (get better soon) I'm off on the sick today. I got a migraine yesterday and it's left me completely wiped out. The headache has gone but I still feel a bit sickly, dizzy and spaced out. I intend on not leaving the house at all today - dh took the kids to school for me.
Bagged nsd yesterday, and if I get my way of not going out today I should get a nsd today as well.
I got a 3rd contract offer for exam marking today. I'm trying to decide whether to accept. It's a busy time at the best of times, and I did 2 last year. It's a case of whether or not the financial reward outweighs the stress of exam marking on top of everything else. Think I've answered my own question there - I'd be a fool not to accept.
Have a good day all.Not giving up

Hi, sorry to have not checked in for a couple of days, had a black weekend.
Saturday was a spend day but Sunday was nsd 3. Today has been a spend day.
Today was official weigh in day and I've lost 4lb in week one of cutting out the junk. Another 3lb and I get to open one of the nice bottles of shower gel or bath stuffCredit card respend 2551.58 (15/02/17)0 -
Get well soon CCL and congratulations marsbarsgirl on your weight loss. Was meant to join ww last week with my SIL but she chickened out at the last minute. If I'm feeling much better by Thursday I'd bite the bullet and join albeit alone. I realise if I keep on waiting for people to join me, I wouldn't get anywhere with the weight loss. You've spurned me on themarsbarsgirl. Thanks"There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150

Get better soon poorly folks.
We had a very busy weekend here, we replaced two kitchen wall cupboards (carcass only doors were fine) so the contents were sorted out too. Did a lot of cleaning jobs (the type that get put off), bought DD a desk for her bedroom for £10 from the CS, it just needed a wipe over and was good to go. Returned two items and got a full refund and DH did some DIY in DS's room.
No plans to spend any money today. Tea is wraps and salad using left over chicken from yesterday, then cycling, shower, pj's and TV.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Hope all you guys that are under the weather, gets well soon! :A
I'm visiting my niece in London until tomorrow so nothing to spend! The rather has kept us in but I did go for a walk for half an hour and found a 5p on the floor! :j
I've been working out ways in which I can find a bit of spare cash to throw at my debt so that it's gone by the end of the year. I'm also focusing on a month in Malta in November. I will have to get my thinking cap on for that!
We've just eaten dinner, a yummy warming cottage pie. When my two little nephews are tucked up in bed, we will be having a frugal evening, discussing my nieces budget. She really over spends so I'm trying to teach her a few tricks! No doubt a glass of wine will be involved!:rotfl:Living a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T

The Lenten period will soon be upon us - a time of 'giving something up' usually. But we are going to 'take something up' instead. It can be for the whole period, or just for the rest of February.
What will you be taking up?
I plan to take more steps and get out for walks more, even if only a 10-minute tramp around the block. If I were to give something up, it would probably have to be puddings.

I'm going to try and take up mindfulness. Always thought it was a bit of a waste of time but apparently not.
I've slept, watched tv, drank lots of tea and bagged another nsd. Normal service will resume tomorrow. Not giving up

Hi everyone!
Sending get well wishes to those of you who are unwell.
SFD 6 for me today. My microwave has died. It's just over a year old but @rgos won't do anything unless I pay to have an independent report done to say it's a manufacturers fault. Not happy, but we have decided to make do without for a while. We have a small halogen and most things we use the microwave for could be done in there.
Have done lots of food prep for the rest of the week, including making and freezing sandwiches for packed lunches.
Tomorrow will be a spend day as I need fuel and also need to stock up with meat from the butchers.
Will have to have a think about what I'm going to take up and report back.0 -

I prefer this to the usual abstinence, and thankfully it's becoming more popular.
I too will be more mindful, especially of people and countries less fortunate. I will be contemplating and meditating not only on empathising, but what I can do in my life to help those less fortunate than me. I'm also going to be fasting more during lent....it's the Catholic in me coming out!:D
On a serious note, I used to fast once a month and not only did it make me humble, but also I realised what is truly important in life..:ALiving a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T

Hugs for all Poorlies.
Claiming a SFD as I spent but mum has given me enough money to cover it plus another couple of all day tickets. Very wet start to the day, even in the bus shelter.
Went to the hovel early, packed small rucksack and a cs sack, bus hopped straight to the town centre and the Red Cross shop (nearest to bus station) to drop off donations then straight back and caught the bus that goes near the bungalow. Came home at quarter to nine by taxi and have been in the bath.
Introduced mum to the joys of Kondo folding and ranger rolling and have managed to get much more of her partner's clothes into the available drawer and wardrobe space. Each drawer has a purpose which is a considerable improvement on the way they were packed. Have filled one of the bed drawers with his Summer clothes, leaving a little room in his wardrobe.
Mum's drawers are also sorted but we didn't get to doing her a 'Summer only' drawer. There are still 4 narrow cupboards (bit less than 2 standard wardobes) of clothes in the 'spare' room but that will have to wait for another day. Also replaced all the 'shop' plastic hangers in their wardrobes with strong plastic and wooden ones.
Not too disappointed with progress as had to have a taxi home as I had accumulated 2 filled rucksacks, 2 ordinary bags and about 5 cs sacks or equivalent filled with 'stuff'. Tomorrow I have to apportion it to various charity shops (some electrical items) and raffle/tombola prizes for mum's church. Need to go through a wheelie bin full of paper to check that nothing important has been thrown. Have finally got mum to understand (without panicking her) the concerns I have expressed over the past 3 weeks.
Hoping I get to do something for myself on Wednesday and then it's my counselling appointment on Thursday. Mum should be having the first of her cataract operations on Thursday but was worried about spots today - if her shingles breaks out, they won't do the op.
Today I am grateful for free food, for having a good day with mum and for my skin feeling good (positive benefit of all that rain). I have been trying to think positively all day. Going to think about what I am going to 'take up'.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
