Paid my final 30.00 off my bcard today which means only 2 cards left and I have paid 70% off my total debt.:j

Had to spend money today, daughter has invited her dad around to mine for pancakes should be interesting, marriage ended 25 yrs ago . Felt mean to say No. Thought just pancakes wouldn't fill a guy up so got a chicken and some garlic bread. Grandson will like the company, he wants chocolate and salt on his pancakes:D

Really not motivated at all in work this week, at least my earache stopped last night and I got a decent nights sleep.

Sorry to hear so many of you turtles feeling poorly.

I am with you apple on the challenge I will walk more, did nothing yesterday weather was so bad. So unfit at the moment.

I'm coming home with a bag of goodies from my niece....Thank you very much! :D
I can't believe it's the 9th already! Well no pancakes for me.:(
This is the first year that all my children , and grandchildren haven't gravitated to my house for a pancake fest, but they're all elsewhere. I can't be bothered to get the pan out for just me. I will have to console myself with the food in my goodie bag! ;);)

FunBrum - we didn't realise it was pancake day and so we aren't having them.

Congratulations calling :j It makes me so motivated, hearing your success :)

I am just about to start making pancakes, partly because I want them now, however more because then I will have leftovers for breakfast tomorrow :)

I feel really uncertain at the moment because my ex mucked up payments this month, I have a few expenses that he should now have taken over but I daren't not have the money in my account, just in case. Hopefully, towards the end of the month I will know that all is ok and be able to make an extra payment.

I am going to take up 'having a work life balance'. I am a numbers person so I am going to ensure that I work less than 50 hours a week. As my horrible headmaster so rightly once said, he gets paid to work long hours and I don't! It's probably the most sensible thing he's said.

Hope you've all had a good evening (pancakes or not)

    Works Xmas party?!? Eager
    .

I am the organiser and I have found a really fab place, this will be our second year and you have to get in early if you want a Saturday. I asked on 2nd week of Jan for a date in Dec and was told it had already gone:eek:
  • Hi everyone!

Calling well done! You are doing brilliantly!

Planned spend day for me today as I needed fuel and a top up shop from the butcher.

Sold an item for £7 and it has been collected already. DS is going to a party on the weekend, so £5 will disappear into the birthday card (they have asked for cash towards a big present he wants instead of everyone buying little unwanted gifts).

I have decided that I will take up trying new recipes. I get a bit stuck in a routine and scared to try new things in case people don't like it and it goes to waste. But I have been a bit daring recently and discover I can cook a wicked chicken tikka masala, pizza, and dough balls. So, I am going to set myself a task to search for new (and cheap) recipes.
  • The Lenten period will soon be upon us - a time of 'giving something up' usually. But we are going to 'take something up' instead. It can be for the whole period, or just for the rest of February.

What will you be taking up?

I plan to take more steps and get out for walks more, even if only a 10-minute tramp around the block. If I were to give something up, it would probably have to be puddings :D.

Ooh, what can I take up?
I still need to try and get organised so maybe I should take that up:rotfl:

Will have a think and report back.

Yesterday was a spend day as went to an AGM and brought drinks plus entered the raffle but did come home with booze and chocs:T

Today was a spend day as well - for the first time this month I had to buy lunch, well breakfast really as I ran out of GF bread - did not realise until this morning so did not have time to make a curry or something to heat up.
Could not have breakfast either so on the way to work I got a GF sandwich which I had for breakfast, plus got some soya milk and crisps etc.
DD also has cookery on a Weds so had to get strong white flour and yeast so she can make rolls.

Tomorrow should be a spend free day.

Well done turtles - we are doing great so far this month!!!:A

Either your grandson is quite young so doesn't realise that salt isn't really the right thing to put on pancakes or he is a culinary legend in the making as people are raving about salted chocolate at the moment.
    :D

Went to the GP due to increased stress and anxiety. Just couldn't cope any more. Couldn't write loads on how I am feeling but not going to. Basically need to ignore work and stop thinking about everything for a few days. Easier said than done.

Thought I would let you know about something my GP told me about. There is a website called moodjuice that is apparently really good for teaching mindfulness and helping to create coping strategies and stuff. I haven't had a look yet but they really recommended it so thought it might help others on here.
    :undecided

So... have a whole weeks holidays and need something to take up my time. I have several little things planned like going to the local seaside village for an icecream, going to my parent's house for a weekend... and the big one.... we are repainting the kitchen!!
This is the first time that we have repainted anywhere in about 6 years maybe.
The big thing is that OH and I are going to choose the colour together. This is the first time OH has ever been involved in a decision regarding the house so...

We are also looking at increasing the mortgage to cover a large loan my OH has. It sounds stupid but we could add his loan to the mortgage, the repayments would be less than we are currently paying AND we could pay it all off faster than if we left them as it is currently.
It's amazing how something like a LBM could actually change a person's way of looking at money so completely.
    :)

Sorry, have been trying to write this post for a few hours now so have probably missed heaps of posts since.
    Hugs to you all.

Edit: Hey kitty. I highly recommend allrecipes website (the uk one). If you pick recipes with a good star rating, then the meals are all brilliant. I have fed my OH a tagine and some other recipes which have turned out really well.

Edit 2: I am going to take up learning a foreign language. I already do a lot of stuff like writing out recipes, we have recently tidied out the whole house so I think I am going to try again at learning french.
