Thoughts on Bounts (Get paid for walking)

I had a Bounts premium+ account, but was getting increasingly frustrated with the app crashing and the associated fitness apps on my phone draining the battery, so I decided to cancel my account. After I had enough points for a voucher, I was going to downgrade to the free account until I received the voucher, but I could see no way of doing this, so I had to delete my account. My voucher did eventually turn up, but for the last 2 months I have still be charged my monthly fee! I have contacted them via their submission form on the website, but have not received a response after 1 week. Has anyone else had any issues?
I might have to phone my credit card company to get them to block the payment, but it is rather frustrating!0 -
I am having some issues with Bounts.
I recently got a job as a Postman so have an activity tracker and signed up for the premium account.
Bounts does not acknowledge all your steps.
I thought I was onto a winner here, as I nearly always go over 21000 steps each day I'm in work.
Just as an example, I found the following steps on Bounts as 'unrewarded activity' and next to it is the steps recorded by my tracker:
Date Garmin tracker Bounts says..... Points missed out on
24 Jul ........ 8636...................4230...........................20
25 Jul..........24255....................5717..........................60
26 Jul..........21513....................191 (unbelievable!)....60
I emailed them and initially they said I wasn't refreshing my history, so I responded to say I was and then sent them screenshots of my Garmin activity versus my Bounts history to which their response was:

Hi Jason,
Unfortunately, sometimes the apps don't communicate properly so you lose out on points. Most of the time the points load but sometimes they are lost

Teran

So what they are saying is - 'we know it doesn't always record your activity and we think this is fine'.
I am about to email them again now to say that it simply isn't good enough and that my membership has been mis-sold to me. I'll let you know how it goes.
I think this is deliberate and an attempt to not pay out. I have found a review/blog discussion on the web between Bounts and a guy that wanted to clarify what they do with the data. This essentially stated that they do sell all our details, so I think that a large part fo this is just an attemot to tempt people onto their site so they have more peoples details to sell.
Hey ho.
Would be interested to hear how others get on with the recording of steps and activities.
All the best

And another thing.....
Just had 27 spins on the reward wheel and did not win once.
I wouldn't count on that as any source of additional points!
I have won on it in the past, but 27 consecutive spins and NOTHING! REALLY!?!?!

If you read back through the thread you can see many people having identical issues.
I have to use Moves which counts aroun 1/3rd of steps. Like you I do at least 21000 per day but im lucky if 7000 count so basically losing out on 40 points oer day.
Ive moaned about the reward wheel previously too.0 -
I am having a good experience with this overall at the moment, maybe beginners luck.
I'm using an iPhone with the pre-installed Health app to monitor steps each day, this appears to be very accurate and there have been no sync issues. I've downloaded Runkeeper to monitor the 20 mins exercise and change between runs and walks, again these sync no problem with Bounts and usually instantly.
The reward wheel is very patchy, if anything with around 15 spins I'm not winning anything, although yesterday I won 40 points which was a nice surprise.
I think the different technology people are using Bounts with is unfortunately giving different results.
However I completely agree with Lumbo that Bounts should be doing much more than acknowledging "you lose out on points" they can't just accept that that's the way it is when someone has paid for Premium+ membership of their service! That's very poor indeed and doesn't fill anyone with confidence if things start to go wrong.0 -

That's all very well, and I don't often have a problem with synching my apps but you try spending your points to buy a voucher! They're all out of stock on a regular basis. I have enough points to buy £40 Amazon vouchers. But they're never in stock! :mad:0 -
My £10 garden centre voucher arrived this morning so Im still content with my account.
I use fitbit which seems to be pretty accurate and runkeeper for my 20 min walk points.
OH is using strava and fitbit with good results too.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
I haven't upgraded to Premium + for the reasons above, Bounts doesn't always count my Fitbit steps and the vouchers I want are usually out of stock!
I guess at the moment I'm getting 'something for nothing' but I can completely understand why you're annoyed, Lumbo.
Surely the Bounts team should sort this out rather than potentially lose out on people paying for upgrades? Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j0 -
I've just sent off for a Sainsburys voucher, so hopefully that'll arrive in the next few days. I wanted a Tesco one but none were in stock.
I'm now using my husbands Garnin wristband too, so got a renewed interest in it lately.
Has anyone done the shopping feature yet? Thought it was going to be for instore shopping too, but it's just online, and I don't do many online shops.0 -

Don't count it being there in days. There's at least a 30 day wait on receiving vouchers now.0
