  • So much for this being a quiet year.

The planning office came back to me this week, quoting lots of different rules that meant the extension had to be started before next February. So operation tighten belts and start extension is now in progress.

The other bit of financial news this week was that I received the forms to sign as the cc application was successful
(Which also reduced my CS rating by 40). These will need to be checked and signed this weekend.

Food for both us and the dogs were delivered this week, so cupboards and freezers are full. Still need to get Easter eggs for DDs and DGS though.

I also ordered a couple bits from amazon using a voucher I got at Christmas, mainly some stainless steel mugs for drinking whilst we are out and about. About £2 actual money spent.

Ooo exciting. I love a bit of building work, there is something brilliant about transforming your house and getting exactly what you want.

Although our last build was a bit  financially and consequently very stressful. I would like to do another though. I fancy doing a barn conversion but there aren't many left now, it might have to be a renovation of a 1970s barn conversion :rotfl:
  • I think the finance side of this one will make it stressful too BusyMee! I had hoped for a year to save for it, but no such luxury. I don’t fancy leaving it right until the last minute either as invariably tradesmen do let you down. Even though it will be stressful, it is the least stressful option for me.

The builder has bern round to look already and has estimated he can start in May. We are hoping for the external walls and roof to be done by tradesmen then hoping to do a lot of the rest ourselves. We shall see how it goes. I’ve been saving pictures of ideas for the extension, so homework is already underway :D

We had always planned to self-build, but the popularity has meant plots are nearly more expensive than already built houses!

I imagine our extension was on a much smaller scale (2 storey extension last year) but it was honestly the best thing we ever did. I absolutely love our house now. Did used to have delusions of grandeur wanting a fancy barn conversion though. I watched far too much escape to the country at the time!

  • I have been following your extension story with great interest CathT!

It is a two storey extension we are doing here too. I have a huge list of tasks whirring round my head, which I need to write down.

We’ve just been for a lovely long walk with the dogs, exploring a new route from our house.

I’ve just completed the money shuffle for the vantage account, so a small mse task completed today.
  • We are snowed in again!
  • Exciting extension news ETE. Looking forward to reading the progress. Best of luck with it all.

  • Thank you EC :)

Another week complete. Monday I couldn’t get into work, which would be another days pay down although the overtime worked the previous week will more or less balance it out luckily.

CC paperwork has been signed and posted back now, so should be able to use that for nectar points soon.

I have a fair bit in points already so took a stroll down to Sains one lunch time to get some Easter eggs, using some of the points. Still a few more to pick up in my lunch break one day next week.

I’m hoping to make it to the end of the month without having to do another food shop.
  • Happy Easter everyone. I’ve eaten an egg already, yesterday in fact :EasterBun

I think I had better walk it off today!

My cunning plan of not getting another food shop delivered before the end of the month didn’t go according to plan, we had a delivery this week. However, this *should* last a fair bit into next month. Which conflicts with my new shiny cc turning up, where I get extra points for spending in the first couple months. I will sit down and try to work it out later.

In the meantime I need to start clearing out the conservatory and doing a bit of gardening.
Two dog events this weekend plus a celebratory meal Sunday night for DD1 who has just landed herself a new job  I’m just trying to decide what cake to bake, luckily the chickens are now back to laying an egg a day each, so we no longer have an egg shortage.
