Just taken a look at the site you linked. I cannot thank you enough. I have saved copies of two letters on to my pc to send to BCW. I am also going to inform my bank of my actions and make sure a copy of this - or both letters, lie in my bank file. BCW have picked on the wrong one this time. I don't take no for an answer! Lol! I think I'm just going to give them a call...0

I cannot, CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!!! I have just, yet again, called Buchanan, Clark and Wells, to ask them nicely if they would be willing to extend their 28 day freeze on my account. Again they said they cannot do it. I asked for their address to send correspondence to and!!!!! Ha!!! He would not give me it!!! Done so I can't send a Cancellation of Continuous Authority letter to them no doubt! Does anyone know their address to which I should send it? Registered post of course!0

A simple google search came up with this.

Send them an email then that way you have proof you have sent them some sort of correspondence. This is the email address that I sent all my comments to them, contactus@bcwgroup.com0

I have had a letter out of the blue from bc&w in my maiden name about a 'private matter' they have traced me to my current address about something to do with a property that I rented over 13 years ago. I thought it might be a scam so I googled them and it led me here. I am not aware of any debts at all. I'm not sure whether to just ignore it or to send a 'prove it' letter which will confirm my identity and my current address.:mad:0

At the moment they're just fishing. What we normally say is ... wait till they make a specific allegation, then send the prove-it.
The likelihood here is that it's either not your debt or its something so old that it's statute barred.
But it's not worth speculating what it might be - wait till they tell you.0 -
Thanks MSE forums.
These BCW sharks wrote to me at my current address (here for over 3 years) about a debt "in my name" at my previous address.
I ignored them.
They've just sent a second letter saying they have been instructed by Gothia Limited - I did a search and... Wait for it... Gothia Limited have the same address as BCW. So they are working for themselves.
They go on to say I owe £447 to H&M Home Shopping. I suspect it was a previous tenant at my last address (she had some debts, but moved out over 5 years ago!) but I've never shopped at H&M ever.
So my plan is:
1. Ignore them, repeatedly.
2. NEVER call or speak to them on the phone
3. If they get really nasty, I will send them the "Prove it" letter linked on page 1 of this thread.
4. Hope they take me to court, oh please oh please, so I can laugh in their faces, watch their lawyers bleed them, then report them to their Ombudsmen (though I doubt this scum has one). And charge them for wasting my time.
5. (In the meantime I will write to H&M to advise them of the appallingly tactics of their chosen debt collectors and the comments about BCW on this forum.)
They are a joke, except their bullying tactics probably scare  some nice / old / worried people into paying. Scum.
You lovely folks - Keep up the great work!0 -
:rotfl: Having been chased by BCW for a fictitious debt (see above in this thread; I have NEVER shopped at H&M), I emailed H&M to say "Not my debt; call off your attack dogs".
Good: They emailed back quickly; said they would sort it out. What was my (previous) address? (Careful...) So I gave it to them, asking them to cancel it or I would write to H&M Managing Director.
Bad: H&M then emailed to say "It IS you debt - give us your phone number and we'll call you". Hahahahahahahaha :rotfl::rotfl:
Obviously a standard response they give, drafted by the sharks at BCW. It is NOT my debt, as I 've never shopped there, I repeated.
Next step: I will send a "Prove it" letter to H&M (I'm not going anywhere near BCW) and address it to the H&M Managing Director.

new to the forum after googling BCW.
came home to two BCW messages asking me to call a number with a reference number, is the general advice just to ignore them?
ive only lived in this, my first house, for a few months and its a new number from virgin. they didnt use my name in the message.
im sure its a mistake because im very much anti-debt and have never had a store care / credit card etc.
gets you panicking though so im keen to know why they called.0 -
Hello All,
New to this forum but have watched and read things for a while. I have had a run in with BCW, this is my story/nightmare from them. My partner had a letter sent to him around November time saying they wanted just under £1000 for a Eon bill from a property we lived in over 3 years ago. After reading the info on here we asked them to prove the debt which we are still waiting for!
I also told boyfriend to get in touch with Eon which he did and they sent the final bill to our new address which came to £600ish! I explained to them on his behalf that under no circumstance will any money be paid to BCW and I want to pay them the money owed... So now Eon have been paid in full, I have also had sent to us via post so its on letter headed paper and also email that Eon no longer have any money being owed to them by boyfriend. Yet BCW are still trying to chase for money but as far as I care now they can try all they want the debt no longer exists!! I just think they will be a little P****d that they never saw a penny of the money.0
