As a child I loved Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl. Now I love the Harry Potter books, and also Phillip Pullman and Eoin Colfer.

Having a son who is a reluctant reader and who struggles a bit, I've been looking for less arduous reads that are still good fun. He likes the Wimpy Kid books, and also the Tom Gates books.

    In no particular order
    Winnie the Pooh
    Swallows & amazons
Over sea under stone (all 5)
The tiger who came to tea
    Where the wild things are
    Dahl.
    Flika
    5 minutes peace
    Alice stories

Harry (& comics) were gateway reading for the lads - they hauled their grandfather into Hogwarts!
Now all three read almost anything, (but weren't smitten by Malala.)
  • Mr Stink - David Walliams
Danny Champion of the World - Dahl
    Wonder
  • Anything by Jackie Morris - such beauty.
Beatrix Potter delights me even now at the age of 51!

The BFG will always be my favourite book! I loved it as a child and still love it now.

I also liked the St Clare's & Malory Towers books by Enid Blyton.

When i was tiny it was all about Noddy. I think thats where my love of bright colours came from. Noddy pictures were full of bright colours.

As a child i loved Enid Blyton. The Famous Five and Secret 7.

As i got older i loved The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Pure fantasy and escapism.

I LOVED St Clare's and Malory Towers! I so wished I was a strong, determined girl going to boarding school. I'm sure the reality is somewhat different, but Enid Blyton had such a way of storytelling. I would read those books for hours. They also got me in trouble a couple of times, such as sneaking in to the kitchen to cook sausages for a midnight feast :)

I also seem to be the only person I know who read Secret Seven over Famous Five. Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl are two of the greatest writers, I think, to have ever lived. Even the biographical books by Dahl are full of amazement and wonder.

My favourite kids book now is Green Eggs and Ham, followed closely by The Snail and The Whale
