As a child I loved the chalet school books
But others I liked were
The Weirdstone of Brisingamen by Alan Garner
The viaduct by Roy Brown
Knights of the Cardboard Castle by Elizabeth Beresford
Now, I love the Harry Potter books and Michael MorpurgoI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I loved the Mallory Towers series, The Faraway Tree and Matilda.0

The ones my children loved were Dogger by Shirley Hughes for little ones and anything by Michelle Magorian for older ones.
For myself as a child, Orlando the Marmalade Cat by Kathleen Hale, Ann of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery when I was older.Chin up, Titus out.0 -

The Weirdstone of Brisingamen by Alan Garner
My mum refused to read any Enid Blyton books to us when we were little as she didn't rate them at all - I've never read any myself since either, I don't feel I've missed out.
I'm with you on the Weirdstone and The Moon of Gomrath and Elidor. My boys all enjoyed me reading those to them too and the youngest used the Weirdstone as a basis for a project he did at Art College.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods

Generally anything by Roald Dahl but Matlida has always been my favourite book.
Also have a soft spot for The BFG, Danny the Champion of the World, Witches and Boy.Sigless0
