  • If it was me, i'd keep quiet about it and leave Voda at the end of the contract hoping that they never noticed. However I'd also make sure I kept enough money aside (in a 5% current account) to cover all the payments if/when they did notice. Can't really see any justification for compensation but, in this day and age, I wouldn't be surprised if you got something out of them.

Hi All, for those interested I thought i'd update you on this a year later, after them not charging me anything for months I spoke to someone on their live chat (for the millionth time) who had a word with their manager and said "Oh don't worry, you don't owe us anything, It is an introductory offer for a new customer" after they tried to bill me originally for the full amount.

Luckily for the past 18 months or so the billing system has been working and I am now free to leave them, especially after a recent argument I had with them about a data add-on which I posted on page 56 of the Vodafone complaints thread.

Sorry that I can't link to the post, my post count isn't high enough.

For anyone else in the same situation, my advice is to put the money aside and don't say a word and wait for them to contact you... Hopefully your "introductory offer" is as good as mine turned out to be in the end :money:.

What they tell you on live chat or the phone is usually worthless. Make certain they do as they said before you count the chickens. while you're at it, check your external credit files; there are often nasty surprises which if left unaddressed will await the opportunity to trip you up for the next six years.
