No I don’t think so. Just have to see what happens at occupational health. I believe it’s tricky to get them to agree to early retirement. I actually look really well too.....I was going to try and go back at the end of February.....I’ll be glad when it’s all over 🤞

We’ve been out for a walk this afternoon. We actually travelled about 5 miles in the car but it took us to a practically deserted area. Not a beauty spot or touristy. There’s a very big canal which used to take big industrial boats filled with goods from a massive industrial estate out to the sea. In its heyday it was a hive of industry...it doesn’t get used much these days although they do a lovely day cruise along it 😃...we drove to a deserted road near by and walked along some purpose made paths which were rather muddy and along some roads by the canal, we had a cuppa ......whispers quietly ‘and a doughnut’ at a Greggs takeaway...it was on the junction of a busy roundabout though 😳 so a tad noisy, but it was good to go somewhere different and not really far away. It made sense to travel away from crowds as if I stay to the walks near me it’s like walking down a busy street when the weather is nicer as it was today. I feel as if I’ve been kicked around the middle now.
I called at the butchers on the way home, where I buy my sausages and bumped into my old stoma nurse from 15 years ago. I ended up chatting to her for quite a while.  She reassured me and was saying it takes at least 6 months to recover to any sort of normality after the surgery I’ve had and the older you are the longer it takes. I’m at 5 months now so that fits in....typical just as I’m ready to go back I’m probably finishing work. I’m in 2 minds whether or not to tell occupational health I was thinking of going back at the end of my sick note to see what they say. My worry is if in a couple of months the doctors say I’m fit for work and I don’t have a job. What job could I do.....I can’t stand all day in a shop, can’t do any heavy lifting , don’t get on with computers....I’m not sure what that leaves me to do and the job market for over 60s isn’t the best. I know my job inside out  and work well with children....I just don’t know....I have 4 years and 3 months left before I retire. I don’t know what the works pension would be but I know it wouldn’t be enough to live on. We’d get by with both of us but if the worse happened and I was left on my own I wouldn’t manage. Sorry to ramble- I’m just playing with ideas. I’m not sure if I’ll have any choice at this  stage of proceedings though....which might be just as well 😂 I’m over thinking instead of letting fate take it’s course 😂😂

It’s a dilemma that’s for sure. Good to consider all your options and different scenarios.  None of us can predict the future so just take it as it comes.

  • Your walk sounded interesting- as you say it's good to visit somewhere a bit different.
Sorry to hear about your worries on the job front. SA is right though about predicting the future and taking things as they come - hopefully things will resolve as time goes on.

  • I'm sorry you've got all this uncertainty on the job front Milann. I hope you get pensioned off rather than redeployed, or that you can do your old job again. Try not to worry too much until you know for sure that there's anything to worryy about.

I'lm glad you've got out for a few walks. I love seeing ducks too as they are such amusing creatures 🦆🦆🦆. There aren't any ducks within walking distance of my house as we can only get to the local park easily and it doesn't have a pond. I'll have to wait until we're allowed to drive somewhere for a walk. You're lucky to live near a canal 🙂.

Hairy the canal is a short drive but I’d still class it as local....a 15 minute drive but we only passed about 4 or 5 people the whole time we were out....we pass people constantly when we go more local.
I did my sw zoom this morning. I’d lost 1/2lb.....I’m 5 weeks into my 12 week countdown and am still the same weight as when I started.....ah well that’s what happens when I eat with fish and chips and doughnuts. Need to kick myself up the backside.
We have been sorting some of dh prize possessions into the newly decorated room today....it looks a total mess upstairs now as there are things that need to go somewhere out of the house (tip) some things that he’ll keep if there’s room so they’ve been put to 1 side and things we have moved to get to the things behind them. Basically we need a Tardis 😂😂 I left him to it and went out for a walk to get a couple of bits from the shops and have a walk at my new favourite walk to see the ducks and have a cuppa whilst I rested. There is a lovely lady with a takeaway cafe in some old buildings in the parkland which look as if they were changing rooms in a former life. She is very Bohemian and the building has hand painted murals all over it. A cuppa is £1 - it’s £2,30 in Costalot coffee 😳 I quite enjoyed myself. Outside this cafe there are various planters and old tyres filled with primroses and in the summer there are old bread trays filled with herbs growing that  you can help yourself to, in usual times she puts toys out for the toddles to play on and a den building area....she has really tried to make a go of it......so my £1 cuppa is helping a local business. I wanted a packet of tortilla chips from one of the shops on my way home so ended up in Morrison’s ...£33.50 later ☺️ I bought 2 tunic style tops and a pair of leggings plus a couple of foodie things. One of the tops feels massive but I think it’s the style. I’m going to change it for the smaller size but think the shoulders might be too small. It might end up going back....I just need to get used to baggier, longer tops. My favourite of the new ones I’ve bought recently is the Seasalt one ds bought me. Transforming to a different style doesn’t come easily to me....I’m too stuck in my ways.
It’s quite strange......I’m not actually worried about work. It will be what it will be. I’m still very undecided what I want to do. Deep down I think I want to finish but just a tad wary about money.....if my lottery numbers came up - I’d be out in a flash.  If they retire me early and take the decision away from me  I’ll be happy and will make the money work. I suppose I don’t want to make a decision that I can look back on and wonder if I made the right one 😳 and I just want to be prepared for every scenario in my head.....hope that makes sense. 😂😂 I’m not sure it does to me 😂😂 sorry another ramble 😏

4 th NSD of February. Not much to report. I’ve had a couple of long chats with friends today which was lovely. Dh went in work but ended up coming home as there wasn’t any work so he did some more sorting of the man cave bedroom. I stitched a bit more of the chair. I’m on the last arm now and then the backs to tackle. I can only do short stints as it hurts my arm and is hard going on the fingers too. All going in the right direction though.
I haven’t been out for a walk. It’s snowed on and off all day - I’m surprised it hasn’t stuck as it has been heavy at times. I didn’t want to encounter any ice so have stayed indoors.

It’s been snowing all day here too but has only stayed in patches so it looks a bit weird. Although this morning it was quite thick when I took the dog on the park this morning but it started thawing by lunchtime.

Very little snow here but I have been told (Amazon delivery tut tut) that it is very slippery underfoot.  Can DH not help with the furniture as it causes you such pain?  Knowing me I have probably missed something, if so I apologise!

Bad memory - I’m stitching material over the sides of chairs to give them a new lease of life. It’s a curved needle and just a bit tricky and stiff.....but i am enjoying doing it. I can’t use a stapler as it’s onto a metal frame. We were thinking of buying new chairs but it’s just the sides that have faded. The leather on the actual seats is ok and I like the chairs which fit really well in the space we have. There is a photo I posted a few days ago somewhere on here if you want to see them 👍 Dh wouldn’t have a clue what to do. He is really good at doing most things 😀
