If your other raincoat was twelve years old then it sounds like you needed a new one and Freddo bars don't go off quickly so you will have lots of lowish calorie treats to last you.
It's good to get out and about with DH and have some fun before your op.

Curly wurlies and Freddo bars remain unopened
So today I’ve sorted out my curtains at the front window and done some batch cooking- a Jamie Oliver pulled pork, bean and chorizo recipe. Chilli for dh, Bolognaise and a minced lamb, courgette and aubergine dish. Once they’re cool I will portion up and freeze. When I know how much room I have left I’ll go and get some chicken and make an assortment of chicken dishes. I’m thinking of food I can eat one handed with a spoon in a dish rather than having to use a knife and forkand that are low or no syns. Then when dh has been at work it’s just a matter of cooking rice, pasta or potato and salad/veg to go with chosen meal. I had contemplated going to big market a tram ride away to stock up but was worried it wouldn’t fit in my freezer as it’s only got an empty shelf- last time I went I’d run my freezer completely down. We won’t starve anyway:o
So it’s been another speedy day stocking up at Lidl and Morrison’s but it’ll work out cheaper in the end. Next month had better be a low spend month to make up for this one:eek: I’m in danger of having to pay my cc over 2 months which I really don’t want to do.
The builders we phoned about the damp patch in the bedroom haven’t been back in touch so I’ll leave it for now and phone some different ones in a couple of weeks.
Mmmm.....I’ve come up with an idea to put some decking over an area where we took the shed down last year and made the fairy garden. The paving stones are at several different levels over a short space and we need something doing to tally it up with the ramp dh made the year before for ds. I don’t know why I’ve never thought of this solution before.....it’s given dh food for thought :rotfl: it’ll make a nice little seating area too, but means dh will HAVE to sort some of the c r @ p (he thinks possible useful bits) out he saves - just in case. It’s hard to explain but will look like a decking bridge between new seating area and base of the ramp which will have slope for ds to roll over so he doesn’t need to go over the uneven bits. It should cost about £70 to do and dh effort.
:rotfl::rotfl:he says he wants me back at work as I’m coming up with too many ideas for jobs......I can’t have him getting bored now he’s reduced his hours:D

You have been busy in the kitchen, it will be worthwhile though for after your op. The garden idea sounds like a very sensible one , am sure DH will get going whilst you are recovering.
Enjoy your next few days off.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.0 -
Sounds like you've had a productive day batch cooking
Hope you get a reliable builder to sort the damp patch before it gets worse.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Well dh had put the curtains up at the front windows in the bedroom - they were slightly long but we thought if I pulled the cushion on the bedding chest forward and let the curtains hang behind they’d be ok without turning them up - I lived with them 2 days but it wasn’t doing it for me....so dh took them down this morning. My friend came around and I’d cooked us a nice dinner of chicken salad, new potatoes and fruit salad - she has lost 7 stone now on SW and is doing amazingly. After dinner I said I’d turn a curtain up as we were sitting chatting. So we sat with a curtain each sewing and chatting
- she offered to do one too
no such thing as a free lunch in this house :rotfl::rotfl: so they’re ready to go back up this evening. I can take a set of curtains back to Dunelm retrieving another £30 back - we thought we’d need 4 curtains at the front window but we gotaway with 2 big ones  so now I just need to get the pictures on the wall and put a few nick-naks in place to bring the room together - and get someone in to sort the damp out after next week.
Tomorrow I want to sort the gks room out - that won’t take much as I sorted and washed all the toys before the came in April - I just need to sort a few bits I’ve put in there out of the way to their rightful place. I’m meeting a friend at a garden centre for lunch before we go to see her hubby in the care home.
:j:j yesterday I finished painting the fence panels I started doing a while ago:j:j. Just need dh to get new panels around the rest of the garden now......mmmmm....:rotfl::rotfl:I seem to be waiting for dh to do lots of jobs.....might have to trade him in..........I’m not sure I’d get anyone else who could look after me as good as he does though so I suppose I’ll just have to keep drip feeding hints for a while. One day it will get there.January spends - £587.580 -
7 stone is awesome.
Glad you got the curtains done & money to come back.

Look how’s talking about perseverance- the master Beanie.:T:rotfl
So will somebody lock all the doors to Dunelm and stop me entering - I’m now guilty of getting a throw and some of those half sized cushions...plus a new sheet and pillowcases and a mattress protector. So ended up spending the cash from the curtains I took back. The bedroom will be beautifully bright and cheerful though.
I met friend’s wife yesterday and we had lunch at the local garden centre - I said I’d pay as they took us out last time - I was at the till - expecting it to cost £18 and the lady on the next till handed over her membership card - I thought mine had run out but spurred on by seeing lady, I handed mine too. I’m glad I did - free drinks, and bogof on meals so it cost me £6.60:money::D for 2 jackets with prawns and coffees. We had a natter and mooch then went to see her hubby - I’ve not seen him for a few weeks and he’s much the same, although I suspect slightly worse, his voice wasn’t as strong and he was quite agitated. So sad.....anyway..... - I called in at ds house which is very close to garden centre - did a bit of gentle weeding for him(one handed easily pulled weeds :rotfl:not that weeds have 1 hand - I meant myself.) I phoned ds at work to see what time he finished and I met him at the pub for a carvery - So i was stuffed to the brim after having dinner out too.
En route home I called to a friend’s, she is 60 in a weeks time (not the one I’ve done the planter for) I dropped her card off as I won’t be able to write it or drive to her next week....sat and had a cuppa with her - it was nearly 11 last night when I got in - from 10 am yesterday morning. I needed a bath when I got home - I love her dearly but I smell of smoke whenever I’ve been there and always have a dry throat/ nose the following day. She’s just revamped her kitchen on a very tight budget and has red in her wallpaper - her kettle is way past it’s best so I think I’ll treat her to a red kettle to help finish off the look for her birthday. She is very hard to buy for, and will appreciate something like that - we’ve been friend since we were 11 and are total opposites :rotfl:
Today’s jobs is sorting gks bedroom - I just threw everything back and shut the door when they last visited:o it’s not too bad as I did it properly before the last visit. Then I can chill a bit.January spends - £587.580 -
A red kettle sounds just the thing for your friend
