However to gain a family visa you have to be living in the UK and have a family tie, which is very difficult for a young person without a skilled profession as getting the two year visa is very difficult to put yourself in that position of living with the person etc. Then there are associated costs, finding work.
She will get to do the life in the UK test, my wife is revising for hers at the moment, some of the questions are very odd and I didn't have a clue about the answers!0 -
Best bet would be if the girlfriend opted to get a decent qualification and landed a place to study here (ie take the university/student visa approach)0

I agree with some of the other posters - You say your son can run a home and look after a baby which contradicts you saying he can't work as he has a disability.
Running a home and looking after children is hard work!
(NB:- For clarity quoted above is the entire post)
How is this or comments like this helpful?
There is no 'contribution' & there is an undertone!
For the record I take exception to the tone here and I don't see a 'contradiction' this sort of blanket statement goes along the lines of some very unsavoury beliefs held towards disabilities first aired on a public stage in the opening years of the 2nd world war!:happylove Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. :happylove0 -
As he doesn't have a job a spousal visa wouldn't be considered if she was already living in the UK. What visa has she applied for, tier five?
She hasn't applied for anything yet & she isn't living here yet either.
They want to do everything as properly as possible & give themselves the best chance of being together:happylove Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. :happylove0 -

But the spirit of the comment was accurate and not against anyone with disabilities.
As for the legal problems maybe you should direct them to the immigration service I am sure the information you will need is all there.0 -

I am simply asking if there is a legitimate way to help some one immigrate?
Why should she not be allowed, if she is prepared to work & contribute?:happylove Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. :happylove0 -

Overseas student tuition fees are very high - far higher than for home students so financially this is unlikely to be an option.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Hi OP. Sorry, I don't know enough about immigration to comment or advise. But on Art Therapy front - Art Therapist is a protected title in UK and you can only use that title if you are registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) having completed an appropriate course. There may well be provision for those qualified from abroad. She can check out their website.
Just to say there are very few art therapy jobs in the NHS now and many art therapists competing for them.0 -
Who said that and on what grounds ?

For the same reasons I couldn't get on a plane to America and get a job over there. The USA doesn't have an open door policy for immigration - and neither does the UK despite what you might read in the newspapers.
The only way she could legitimately emigrate is if she wouldn't be a drain on the public purse or take employment from existing residents .
She could certainly visit for several months if someone is prepared to keep her or maybe wait a while - find a decent job and both her and your son save like crazy and then go through the spousal visa route. If your son is capable of looking after a house and children - maybe this would be a spur to find employment that he could do to help with the savings. Possibly working from home ?
There are ways -it just simply isn't easy and does involve financial contribution and effort from the parties involved.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
