I've now tried both Lidl and Aldi versions of the 200g Mini Stollen. (Stollen is one of my favourite things, as my Grandmother used to make it).

The winner (by some way) is Aldi, where the product is genuinely a miniature version complete with a choice of Marzipan or Apple filling.

The Lidl version was disappointing, being rather plain with no filling (at least not the one I had).

    Lidl: 99p, Aldi: 79p.

edit: Apparently, there is a plain version of the Lidl product marked "Butter" (the one I had), and a filled version marked "Marzipan".
  • Lidl's box of extremely chocolatey biscuits are lovely.

Pretty much inevitable, unfortunately, thanks to Brexit. And all the more so on the huge number of items Aldi and Lidl source from outside the UK.

Tiger loaf (400gm)at Lidl, Saturday 50p today 59p.
    It's only the start sadly.

Has Aldi got any frozen Xmas lines in yet? Such as the five bird roasts or other seasonal produce?

Yes, I'm not sure everything they have but they have some, I'm pretty sure I saw the 5 bird roast last week.

Thanks, I managed to get a five bird roast, turkey crown, whole duck and beef wellington today, along with some xmassy buffet type food, so I'm happy now :D
  • For anyone who likes Dorset Cereals nutty granola, the Aldi version is delicious - nearly half the price of the DC version, and even 10p Cheaper than the Tesco equivalent. Highly recommended.

That's because they're identical. The Dorset factory makes the granola for Aldi. There was a programme on tv about it some time ago showing the same production line, just the packaging was changed.

I did warn people that those that were planning to vote for Brexit that the prices of food and other things will go up as the exchange rates will plummet.

    I was right!

Sadly, though, the vast majority of those voting for Brexit aren't bright enough to understand the implications of voting the way they did.

They believed the lies about the £350m pw for the NHS (now accepted as a lie), all the other lies that were told, and all the other catchy little slogan-lies about 'regaining control' and 'getting our country back'.

I'm beginning to think there ought to be some kind of intelligence test before voting papers are handed out!
