Eta: managed to find them online:
https://www.aldi.co.uk/p/70936/1 (I paid £14.99)
https://www.aldi.co.uk/insulated-wine-carrier/p/069721043233700 - no longer available, but I paid £9.99.
Am interested to know if either did in fact appear in England stores? I shop there weekly but don't remember seeing them instore.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Well, I've been back to an Aldi today I used to shop in regularly and they had peanut butter and strong flour, both plain and wholemeal, so I asked one of the girls whether there'd been a stocking issue and she said no, they stock these items all year round and they've never disappeared from the shelves.0

Wild Boar (diced and frozen) is on offer at Lidls (2.99 for 500gm). Which is a good price for a boar stew in the Autumn.0

Lidl French Brie seems to have changed supplier, and the new one is very good. It's harder to slice, though, making it more difficult to only have a small piece.
Excellent VFM at 89p (for now, since Aldi Brie has just gone back up to 99p).0 -
I posted quite a while ago about buying two 'topside' beef joints from Aldi and finding that they consisted of a 3cm (?) strip of rolled beef, lined with gristle (imagine a swiss roll with beef foe pastry and gristle for filling).
The second time, instead of going to the store, I rang their CS and was sent a £10 voucher, but decided to never buy again (though other meats, pork joint or chops , mince, steak and chicken have been no problem).
Last week, I bought a joint, as it looked solid and today, cut it in half and roasted half.
The result is another disgusting 'swiss roll ' of gristle, which means a journey back to the store, wasted electricity and an evening meal of just beans and potatoes, as I have no unfrozen meats available.
I rang CS , who last time said they were very concerned and would be investigating the producer(hence the £10 voucher), only to hear, again, about their concern ( no voucher, this time) yet they don't appear to have acted on this concern.
I've just sent them photos of the 'joint'. (I expect a topside joint to consist of a chunk of meat and not a piece of rolled meat like brisket).0 -
What happened to the English cherries? Unbeatable for flavour, but Aldi only had them for a week or two before they went back to the inferior Turkish ones, and the local Lidl doesn't even stock cherries!
Waitrose is only round the corner, but that really shouldn't be necessary for English cherries at this time of year!0 -
Aldi Strawberries and Red Grapes this week are absolutely delicious! Both £1.39 so a good deal cheaper than other supermarkets.
Strawberries smothered in Creme Fraiche - yum!0 -
Generally speaking, I think the soft fruit at L & A this year has been excellent.
Maybe they listened to our complaints last year and fixed the issues they seemed to have in their supply chain?
Also, I've been buying the "Wonky" apples from Aldi over the last couple of weeks, and they have been okay - I only looked at them because all the other apples were tiny. They are never going to be perfect, being "Wonky", but they are perfectly fine to eat.
5-6 Apples for 83p.0 -
It's a pity Lidl can't get basics like carrots spuds and onions right.0

Tesco do 500g grapes at £1.25 & imperfect strawberries 400g at £1.29. Other good deals on grapes if you look, M& S basics are quite cheap and Iceland have 800g for £2. Also 2 for £3 on Strawberries last few weeks.
I picked up some of those red grapes last night they look goodLooked at the strawberries they had but wasn't impressed enough to buy, however they only had 2 punnets which clearly had been left by other customers lol.
Picked up more baking staples to try, no complaints so far, it's all so much cheaper too. Also got some soup to try. I go every 6 weeks on average so I tend to get one of something to try, with bulk purchases next time if I like it, usually do!
Didn't like their luxury choc chip cookies, very bland without much flavour or sweetness.0
