No point calling the police. We have caught shoplifters at work, but unless you have footage of them actually stealing the item, the CPS won't want to know..

I bet the store manager rang or e-mailed the nearby stores about him as he may have tried to do this at other stores. Within 5 miles of this Aldi, there are five others - all in different locations

I gave up on Aldi kiwis many years ago. They just never seemed to ripen.

My parents had the same experience. 10 days after buying them, they were still rock hard and had difficulties getting a knife through them. They rather pay 20p more elsewhere to be able to eat them.

The chocolate is now £1.49 for a 200g bar and £1.59 for the five pack of individuals. This time last year it was 99p so it has rocketed compared to most products in store.

I popped to a new Lidl in Leek and was impressed how well stocked and quiet it was. Tills were also much faster than other older stores. The Orange Zero drink is the same as the old Aldi version in that it contains real juice. Aldis now tastes thin and cheap as it uses comminute orange.

That must be some pretty posh chocolate. Both L & A still have 200g bars of chocolate for 30p (everyday value) and 39p (standard own brand).

I think you will find they are 100g bars at that price.

Speaking of which, we had a family taste test this afternoon: Kitkat Sensation hazelnut vs Aldi Choceur milk chocolate with hazelnuts. Choceur won hands down :D

Oh yes, I think they are.

Not surprised. Was that the Chocolate bar that's full of whole hazelnuts - it's delicious. I find a lot of standard British chocolate to be a bit sweet by comparison with some of the best from L & A. Although I did get some Plain Chocolate Kit-kats yesterday which are very nice.
  • Lidl is currently stocking very reasonably priced maternity/nursing wear. The vests are fabulous quality and very cheap, the pjs very comfy (though need a vest underneath) the jumpers and jeans also fab for the price. I haven’t tried the other stuff. My only advice would be they come up a bit small, so size up.

This is the mid range chocolate. Cheap stuff is still 30p for 100g or there is a 200g bar for 79p I think. The expensive chocolate is 100g for 99p but as the cost is lower and it's less calaroies and taster it is a win all round
  • Lidl today in the cooked meats had sliced silverside beef for 49p a pack. Will report back what it's like.
