People often overcook beef and don't leave it rest long enough which causes the meat to become tough. I usually cook a 1.5-2kg joint for an hour and then rest it for an hour before carving. Never fails to work for me.0

Just tried an Aldi cranberry and orange HCB. Tough, chewy and not the best flavoured either.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I saw those this morning. Gave them a quick squeeze, like you do. They felt very dry so gave them a miss.
I did however purchase a White Chocolate and Amaretti Cheesecake which was also not on my list. Will feedback later after i've tried it. The cashier was drooling over it, hope it's good0 -
I wouldn't have minded the chance to try one! The local Aldi was so busy today that, with the entrance via a clogged main road, I gave up and went elsewhere. The car park was full and the queue was causing chaos.0

Hope they don't sell us down the river by substituting cheap tat! Considering my nearest branch is 10+ miles away, I certainly won't be making the effort to travel. Not when I can buy family sized portions of potatoes, carrots, parsnips, cabbage and broccoli for less than £2 (all at 29p each) at my local Asda.
I emailed Aldi with a copy of my post above and someone actually called me.
The lady said that they are quite concerned and asked me to contact them again, should I find another poor joint (and encourage others to do the same),as they want to maintain quality and can track all products back to the producer.
I had neither wrapper nor receipt, but they are sending me a £10 voucher.0 -
Just out of curiosity, given that washing powder's cheaper and more effective, according to Which?, what's the big advantage of shifting away from powder?
Some washing machines are not able to take powder straight into the drawer, only liquids.
I tried about half a dozen powders in my new machine before I discovered this by accident on another forum0 -
all the joints I have had from Aldi have been excellent bar one - a pork shoulder joint which was full of fat and gristle.
I second leaving the meat to rest - I normally allow about an hour too. the juices go back into the meat and it firms up enough to carve more easily.0
