Our local Aldi opened today after being closed for 11 months and it s fantastic. I read it's the largest in the UK. The range of products is amazing, but it was chaos. I can't believe a few years ago I virtually has the place to myself

    Tunstall ?

Went on the Friday as I thought it would be heaving on the first day, and very disappointed to find that they had already sold out of their Lamb Rogan Josh, which is the main thing we get from them.

Think we'll mainly stick to LIDL, which is where we went while the ALDI was closed....

I love a good ginger beer, very refreshing.

I've had a few but although refreshing went back to ordinary ales as I found them too sweet after a bit.

I thought you didn't like sweet things? Ginger beer is definitely sweet.

Proper ginger beer isn't overly sweet; it shout be firey and refreshing.
That said, the newly popular alocholoic ginger beers can be a bit too sweet.

    Quite.
I'll try one and if I find it too sweet, I'll pour it down the sink.

Any instant coffee recommendations from Aldi or Lidl? I’m a big Douwe Eggberts/L’Or fan but my purse isn’t so much!

Would you buy Douwe if it were £1.60 per 100 grams ?

I was reccomended Aldi's instant fair trade Colombian. It's really good. I normally buy Carte Noir, or Lor as it's now called, but it has become stupidly expensive when not on offer!

It's a 100 g jar and has a black and orange label with the fair trade symbol on it.

I was dubious, as I had tried Aldi instant coffee before and didn't like it, but this one is lovely. Think it's around 1.89 a jar.

On a related note, anyone know if Aldi do any Nespresso compatable capsules.
