    Than what?
I hadn’t thought that far ahead. At least I wouldn't have to pay for whatever medication was prescribed.

Keep an eye out in your local Aldl's. Noted this in both stores in my town.

Looks like they are introducing a policy of 50% reductions (large red sticker saying 50%) for food short dated, which will be taken off shelves on that day. Reductions seem to be done late in the day, depends on how busy they are. The store I was in, it was about 6pm for the fruit and veg sections.

I picked up fruit & veg, bread and packed meat, saved over £3.50 on stuff I was going to buy anyway. With good storage will last me awhile plus there is always the freezer.

I assume this is cut back on all the food being thrown away at the end of the day. I have sometimes seen large quantities of out of date food being chucked into a big blue box to be sent back via lorries.

But as with all reductions, what you see will be hit and miss. One day a feast, next day a famine.

An answer to a previous question. This is the newer store in my town. They did have 8 tills but now have 10. According to the deputy store manger they requested the extra 2 because they are so busy they needed them.

  • I have picked up quite a few bits 50% off recently - there's usually a good selection of bread items. This has been through the morning in our store so I guess it's up to the manager to decide when to reduce.

I’ve only seen this kind of reduction at Aldi on Christmas stock that needs to be cleared rather than a daily occurrence. Will be keeping an eye out for red stickers now.

I bought a pack of mint, and a pack of strawberry flavoured, albeit very small (judging by the weight of the pack).
Now I have cracked into them, I can confirm that they are small and taste ok, its the novelty and convenience of having them that accounts for the price. My 2-yo niece had been asking for strawberry ice-cream, andenjoyed them. According to my sister, it was like eating double cream but I don't agree. Aside from the presentation, there was nothing special about this ice-cream.

    One for Nespresso owners.
Mine is quite a small Aldi, but has limited edition Nespresso compatible coffee capsules in stock - caramel, vanilla, and chocolate flavour coffees.

£1.69 for ten, the same price as the standard capsules. No issues with them as yet, the vanilla is rather nice, yet to try the other two.

I was really lucky last week. 30% off both macaroni cheese and lamb rogan josh, both of which I planned to buy anyway. And I was supposed to be running down the freezer!:rotfl:

I managed better in Aldi today, getting a bit more used to the new layout but it's still freezing cold in there.:( I'm thinking I might go back to the branch I defected to during the refurbishment.

No mange tout or sugarsnaps today or own brand porage oats.:(
