Have Lidl stopped selling chickpeas, butter beans etc? There was a period a year or so ago where they didn't have any for about a month, I presume due to supply issues, but this time the shelving has been rearranged. They seem like fairly basic items to stop selling if so!

Haven't noticed them in mine but will look properly this week, the same thing happened last year with tom puree it disappeared for ages. Asda have chick peas and butter beans on the world food isle regularly on 4 tins for £1 KTC brand which are good.

I've noticed they've stopped selling chick peas too, but strangely, Aldi have only just begun to stock them in my local store instead (East End brand).

    Lidl, morning coffee break sorted:

Bellarom 74% Dark chocolate (two squares only... half the price and twice as nice as Sainsbury's Taste the Difference...)
    Peanut butter
Simpy wholemeal bread (couple of slices toasted)
Banana (half sliced onto peanut butter on toast.)
Bellarom Gold Coffee filtered (or any other you fancy, Lidl have a good range...)

Why don't Lidl have filter papers when selling all that good filter coffee? Morrisons have 'em at Lidl prices, everywhere else has 'em at twice the cost they should be.

    Lidl also has Breakfast sorted:

Simply Porridge (cheapest Kg of healthy, easy cook, food anywhere?)
Semi-skimmed Long Life milk (bargain! Use water if you are a real miser...)

    And afternoon tea with cheese:

Knightsbridge tea bags (same price as Sainburys basics & much nicer)
    Valley spire mature cheddar (bargain!)

    Cheapest evening meal ever:

oil, onions, canned tomatoes & kidney beans, curry powder, rice... all well cheaper than the big supermarkets

Not enough protein or Omega 3? Try Lidl's canned fish, some amazing bargains there...

Will be making my own hummus this year, instead of bought chick peas will use home grown white runner beans. Morrison has the cheapest tahini at £2.53 for 500g.

I'd like to make my own hummous, but it always comes out like a bit too much of a bean paste and nowhere near as creamy as commercial hummous.

Today and yesterday I bought quite a few new things. But, unexpectedly I've been a bit disappointed.

I bought a 'Meridian Coconut and Peanut' bar from Aldi. I was disappointed, and much prefer Aldi's own fruit and nut bars such as the Cashew bar and the Macadamia and Coconut bar.

Today I bought Thai Sweet Chilli lentil curls from Lidl. OK, and nicely crunchy, but the flavour is very mild and a bit unimpressive. (BTW: Yes, I know that sweet chilli isn't hot - but usually there's a bit more flavour there.)

I bought the Lidl smoky bacon crisps . The taste is IMHO quite good - though like many flavoured crisps it's not exactly a sophisticated flavour. However, the packet I've eaten so far had no whole crisps in it, and was mostly just small fragments. I'm not sure if they are usually like this or whether these crisps have been handled inappropriately.

Bad buys from ALDI - any of their fruit and veg. You have to search for ages to find a pack that does not have at least some that is bad or off. Then those pieces that are OK are off before you get home (well not literally but within a few days!!!!)
