I've spoken to sky just now, I was paying £66.50 for movies, sports and Family package. She offered me sports and movies for £25, I declined, she didn't seem bothered when I said BT had more football. The family bundle is expensive for 30 quid, seen most box sets, might downgrade it
  • I've just got 50% off for 12 months (I have everything) plus £50. I was pleased with that.

  • My fourth deal with Sky was up this month, so I rang them on Monday of this week to cancel. They did offer me 35% to stay but I declined their offer.

The next day, an offer of 50% of any package for 12 months was prominently displayed on my Sky Account page. I used the chat service and accepted the offer for the Sky World package (movies, Sport and HD included). I mentioned on chat that I would like a 2TB box if they could do a good deal, and I was given the number to ring, which I did.

Result. Starting at £429, and then going down and down, I got one for £30, which arrived on Wednesday. One problem - no remote, so I rang up today and one is now in the post for me.

I've also found that the new 2TB box doesn't have an aerial socket so I have to get an iQ something or other which will cost the grand sum of £10 from Sky. Maybe I should have asked them to throw that in as well. I must be slipping!

You have to cancel to get the best deals. Check your "MySky" if you've cancelled, there should be an offer there already.

Totally agree on needing to cancel.

Last year I had to actually go through with it and do without Sky for a few weeks (it was remarkably painless)

Eventually they came back to me with 60% and £100 credit on my full package for 12 months, with no contract on my side

That will run out in just over a month so will be cancelling again shortly, and we will see what they offer second time round.

Why do you need an aerial socket in the Sky box, as the feed comes from the dish ?

You can plug you aerial into your tv, to watch Freeview, if using the Sky box to record two further programmes. Freeview PVRs, like Humax, need an aerial feed as they record Freeview from the aerial .

I have a TV in my bedroom, which is also connected to the Sky box by a HDMI lead, but to change channel upstairs, you need the 'magic eye' which is connected to the Sky box by a coaxial cable via the aerial out connection on the box. As this is missing, I need the iO Link to go into the Sky box instead.

  • Just gave my 31 days notice. 1st time in 10 years. Had offers before but all crap like 20% which I'm fed up of taking while new customers get everything.

If I'm offered anything now will it pop up in my offers? As in the bit then takes you to upgrade offers?

Wonder if I'll get anything before disconnection day.
