You post doesn't really make much sense. Did you get the faulty laptop from Tesco. If you got it in store then you don't have any automatic right to a refund it depends on what Tesco say.

    See post 3: "online"

If you bought it in august why are you taking it to the local laptop shop and not back to where you bought it from?
Because that's a faff and I've got deadlines coming up and no other computer access. If a local shop can fix it in a day or two I'd rather do that.

as has been said, Don't expect to get all (if any) of your money back.

Yes, you could do this but the bit you will struggle with is receiving a full refund. Retailers are now entitled to reduce a refund by up to 100% to reflect any usage and handling over and above what would be considered necessary. Completing a tax return would fall into this category, as would using it for 2 weeks. How much of a financial gamble are you prepared to take on this scheme/scam?

A scheme not a scam. Please get your terminology right. I would be using the product for upto 2 weeks as I'm entitled to and returning for no other reason than changing my mind, as I'm entitled to. No quibbles stated on the tesco direct website.

This has to be a first but I actually feel sorry for Tesco.

People said that about ebuyer when a laptop I had went faulty. Couple stern letters and full refund after 12 months.

Lots of the usual scare mongering here. It's tesco. They even delayed the current laptop a couple days late and gave me £20 cash without my asking :rotfl:

How much do you expect them to knock off after 14 days use with a predicted lifetime of 5-10years :rotfl: £0.

as per tescos terms about refunds,

For all returns - Please let us have any original packaging, tabs, labels and accessories and please package it all securely. If you’re returning an item because you’ve changed your mind, there may be a deduction from your refund if it has been damaged, opened more than necessary to check it’s working, or used more than reasonably expected.

If a retailer sold used laptops as new, would that be a scheme or a scam?

You know what you are doing is far beyond what Tesco allow for in their refund policy.

Seriously did your brain write that.

Tax return Falls 'over and above necessary handling and use'...within 14 days :rotfl:

Using excel is "over and above " the normal use of a computer :rotfl:

Heard it all now. ..I'll leave you lot of worriers and paranoid types to your own devices now. ...do-gooders

    Over and out

I'd like to see them risk their reputation by enforcing that
And I'd also be interested in their deduction after 14 days with a product of high expected longevity. As I've explained. But you've ignored.
