    Purchased online or in store?

Why do you want to return it? Is it faulty?
  • Online

I bought one in august that is faulty. I'm going to take it to the local laptop shop tomorrow. If they fix it I'll cancel the laptop I ordered and if they don't then I'll return this. So if they want to repair it then I'll use the one I just ordered for 14 days.
  • And I can still get a refund within 14 days if not faulty?

You can return it, but I wouldn't bet on a full refund.

so you want to buy a laptop from Tesco to use while your one is being repaired and when its repaired take the new one back for a refund?
  • Kinda but not as such.

If the laptop place fix it tomorrow I'll cancel my order online.

If they don't I'll take it back to tesco and ask for a refund (had a problem with an ebuyer laptop and after kicking up a fuss got a full refund after 12 months). So will tell tesco I've bought a new one and want a refund. If they want to try repair it I'll use the new one for upto 14 days til they don't. I'm perfectly entitled to do this as I've got my tax return deadline coming up. So YES I want to use it because YES I can legally and then 'change my mind'

You post doesn't really make much sense. Did you get the faulty laptop from Tesco. If you got it in store then you don't have any automatic right to a refund it depends on what Tesco say.

Edit: Sorry I missed the bit about buying it online.

by using the laptop for 2 weeks would mean you had accepted the item.
IF you got a refund it would be a partial refund.

You seem to know your legal rights ;)

If you bought it in august why are you taking it to the local laptop shop and not back to where you bought it from?

Yes, you could do this but the bit you will struggle with is receiving a full refund. Retailers are now entitled to reduce a refund by up to 100% to reflect any usage and handling over and above what would be considered necessary. Completing a tax return would fall into this category, as would using it for 2 weeks. How much of a financial gamble are you prepared to take on this scheme/scam?
