Private Parking ticket and Rossendales Debt collector

Hi I received a parking ticket on land for which I pay for a permit. I rang and spoke to the owner who texted the parking firm that I was indeed a valid permit holder and that this should not be payable. I also wrote to them and they asked for me to send a copy of my permit which I did by signed for delivery and they would consider it. I also told them that all the permit holders on this small car park park in the same bays every day. I also informed them that last year in all the bad weather I had infact put my windscreen cover on due to my car freezing on both the outside and the inside and that I did not receive any tickets. Since sending my copy of my permit to them I have received no response but instead Rossendales debt collectors keep texting/ringing and I have received 2 letters from them. As yet I have not responded to them as I had seen some bad notices about them. What should I do? I am thinking of ringing the owner again on this.

read post #4 of the NEWBIES sticky thread, it deals with debt collectors (never phone the debt collectors)
6 years is the statute for small claims court
yes try to get the landowner to deal with it and cencel the alleged debt, or get their support in writing in case a court case comes up0 -
I would very angrily ring the owner and make sure he understands what his agents the parking firm are up to, ticketing cars with permits.
Make it very clear in the event of a court claim you will name them as counter claim in the defence as you have a permit to park.
Suggest that he makes his agent cancel the ticket in writing.
If they refuse to get involved just tell them to watch the letter box, they will be getting a summons to county court if the parking firm send court papers.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Thanks, I always thought you had to go to court before they could send threatening letters etc from debt collectors0
-
nope, they can pursue you using debt collectors who allege you owe their client money
its the bailiffs that need a court order0 -
even though they didnt respond to my letter with a copy of my parking permit?0
-
They wont respond, the are scammers.
You need to go at the fool that hired them.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
they can do as they please, its an unregulated industry0
-
Thanks, will contact the owner again tomorrow and let you know how I go on as this is causing me a great deal of stress0
-
thats the idea of passing it to debt collectors, to put panic and stress onto the person who allegedly owes money, so they cave in and pay up and then all the pigs in the queue get fed0
-
thats true but I thought I was in the right anyway as I'd had no response to my last letter with my permit0
