True Nissan are using the leverage of moving future production to the EU to get UK subsidies, but if every major firm that could did this the UK Government would have a lot of subsidies to pay.
The scale and complexity of a car plant is different to a major firm simply locating in the UK ( i.e. administration, sales and distribution).0 -
If, say you were a Brexit voter in Sunderland today having heard that one of the major employers in the area will not be investing in the plant and will not be prepared to build their next models in Sunderland if we leave the single market, you will probably be less certain of your position.
I think that sums up the difference between Brexiters and Remainers quite well.
Remainers take what they are told by the establishment at face value, and adjust their behaviour to comply.
Brexiters know bullsh**t when they see it, and steer their own course.0 -
Little Englanders are foaming at the mouth with excitement today.
They are polishing their royal biscuit tins, displaying their Charles and Diana tea towels and taking their small dogs out for walks in little tartan dog jackets to buy a celebratory Daily Mail.
But they will be stymied yet.0 -

I'd love to launch a new beer, Empire Beer to celebrate Empire 2. Not too gassy and a bit less alcohol and it could replace the nasty beers sold in Indian restaurants.
Maybe a range of badges for cars and lapels celebrating Empire 2, mmm0
