The Govt manifesto promise was tens of thousands. Now that the HoC has control of immigration, it must do that or it'll get voted out of office. That's how democracy works.

The best offer from the leavers favourite candidate is 100,000 by 2020. Exactly the same promise made before the referendum. Odd that - you'd think it would be lower now we've taken the country back.

    Is 100,000 by 2020 acceptable?

I was wondering if the government will trigger an emergency brake on Free movement when they trigger Article 50? I know it's against treaty agreements but what are the EU gonna do about it?

Why would they do that when the only question asked was if we should leave the EU?

Sounds like you were answering a question that hasn't yet been asked.

A lot of people who voted leave won't be happy even with zero net migration they in their hearts want the clock rewound. They need migration to reverse to be happy and hell even then they would find something to moan about

There is only one developed country which really limits migration towards zero and that is Japan. So its possible but do we really want to be Japan

I am sure that some remain voters are bad people too. I'm sure you could do the analysis to determine how many.

There were plenty of reasons people voted leave a wide spectrum. I don't think there was such a huge spectrum for stay

But my point is. Even with a leave vote even if we get zero net migration for two whole generation there will still be people angry at 'immigrants'. Or to put it another way it won't matte rif your 10th generation migrant so long as you look identifiably different your a migrant and giu need to leave.

Do you think she will be happy when net migration goes to zero? or when the gross figures of black people falls to zero?

Sure. She probably voted leave and I think it's fair to infer that she really wants no identifiable different people (migrants). Zero net migration is a step on the right direction for her bit its not the end goal.

How many leave voters do you think are like that? I think a significant number

    Keep telling yourself that

A significant portion of the leave vote would be unhappy even at zero net migrant you know it's true. They want to see the existing migrants go home be it by choice or by force. If you still disagree why did the reported hate crimes spike in the days after brexit?

No I'm sure there was plenty of migrants who voted leave too mostly out of ignorance.

My local corner shop lady in her late 20s from Pakistan (maybe born here I don't know but ethnically Pakistani) said she voteed leave her reasoning was along the lines of 'I voted leave as it was difficult brining my husband over why should it be so easy for the eastern Europeans we are all human'. Just pause for a minute and think that through a migrant who just bought over another migrant recently, voted out because another group of migrants don't have it as difficult.
