I'm French, so I'm not allowed to vote - choosing to not give money to companies that favour of Brexit is something I can do. Had I been allowed to vote, I probably wouldn't care much about what side various companies support...

That would be like me boycotting Peugeot because they pulled out of manufacturing their cars in Coventry. That was their choice, I don't hold it against them. As a country we should have done more to keep them here. But there are some who are petty and will boycott like that because of ideological beliefs or grievances.

I seemed to recall seeing an article where Toyota said they would. I might be wrong about that but it detracts from the point I was attempting to make. The debate has settled in the gutter and the campaign figureheads have not done enough to stop it from happening. Probably because the figureheads are the wrong people in my opinion.

As I was saying, common sense and pragmatism have been replaced with ideological rhetoric and bigotry, particularly on both sides of the campaigns as portrayed by the media.

you mean just like a normal election?

A much more interesting bet market I have recently found for those of you who like a punt, is the % turnout market.

The general election was a 66.1% turnout according to the BBC.

Who thinks this referndum should be slightly higher?

Odds of 1.72 for over 68%. I'm tempted to put a lump on, but I'm worried that because so many people are unsure of how to vote, that they won't bother....

Still quite safe though I think, what's your views!?

Until 2001 it was always above 70% since the war & perceived close elections (1992) were always higher than when it seemed a foregone conclusion (1997).

I'd say it would be higher but nothing surprises me about how idle the public are.

And are you confident you will have the right to stay in the UK to buy anything after the vote anyway?

I've been here nearly 25 years, so I think I should be ok - in any case, I do have a plan B ;) and it would be quite easy for me to move, obviously taking my assets and my business with me... There are other countries I could be living and spending in you know :)

    Sadly, in a way, yes.

But this vote should not be conducted that way, since the choice isn't for Boris or Dave. It's not for a Labour or Conservative government. After it we'll still have a Conservative government, I'm sure most realise this. The personalities are irrelevant, your beliefs about the issues that concern you and your wider responsibilities as a citizen should be the influence on how you choose to vote.

    maybe that is so but
I prefer to deal in the realities of life and not what things 'should' be like
that way one is disappointed less often

I'm hoping the Jo Cox intervention being hyped by the media as making remain odds-on backfires for remain in that the grudging remains don't bother to vote, supressing the turnout and leaving those who really care about the issue over-represented and scrapping a surprise result.

Don't worry, it will be matched by those 'outers' who can't even spell X on the ballot paper.
Lets hope they don't have to walk past a pub on the way to the polling station.

I'm despondent because I know the average person who doesn't come on forums like this, who doesn't watch every debate, interview, look at articles and try to be an informed voter will come on Thursday and base their vote purely on what they've been fed through the idiot box. So not voting to leave because you cannot align yourself with Boris, Gove, Farage or any other Leave campaigner who you hate is folly, that should not be a valid reason to vote Remain. Whoever does that will be doing themselves a dis-service in this vote because it is not an general election.

Remain or not, are you sure you want to live in a country where you seemingly view about 40% of the population with such contempt?
This is everybody's fault but mine.
