Membership of the EU is an issue that is reserved for the UK, it has nothing to do with the Scottish Government elections any more than it has to do with a Parish Council by election.
The British Government should call the election when they are ready to call it. It has nothing more to do with an election in Scotland than it does with an election in Shoreditch.
Fact check. It was all THREE First Ministers who wrote to object to a June date. You know, three of the four constituent nations that count as British ( currently ) ? Don't their views matter any more regarding Westminster ? They've already had to delay General Elections for a year due to Westminster changes. Actually don't answer that. But just thought I'd throw this in there before you and kabayiri get any more carried away on a big high horse with the 'British' thing, without checking your facts again.Carwyn Jones writes a joint letter with the first ministers of Scotland and Northern Ireland to urge EU referendum delayIt all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

No
(a) the house price indices are inflation adjusted. Debt isn't. Many of the apparent falls in house prices are only with inflation included.
(b) people pay off their mortgage."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

do you think the views of scotland should count more than those of Yorkshire (about the same population)? ..well of course you do but in a fair and just society it shouldn't.
anyway we know its all this faux outrage in the usual SNP victim strategy
what matters is, once you are formally a one party state and the ukexit is defeated : what is the strategy for the I referendum?0 -

I wasn't getting into that. It's for another thread. Just pointing out than when Generali casually throws things like British and the UK, that doesn't just mean England.
All three First Ministers have raised objections to a referendum in June. They've already had to move their own General Elections due to Westminster changes. Party political campaigns and referenda campaigns cost money, never mind both at the same time. Once Dave names the date 'UK' tv will be dominated by the EU referendum campaigns. Devolved nations aren't exactly brimming over with separate UK based channels with which to compensate for lack of election coverage and analysis.
So they do have a few valid points. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

It's only yesterday you were saying how well educated the Scots are. Now you're suggesting they can't cope with two elections 6 weeks apart.
Do you genuinely believe what you post?If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -

Cameron has to set a date for the indy ref which offers the best chances for a result in his favour.
He can't go around worrying about a bunch of local elections in the remoter provinces which are a formality anyway (so we are told)0 -

Yes. I think the Scots, the Welsh and the Northern Irish know the score in terms of what's important to the 'United Kingdom'.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Hmm, so three leaders that aren't Tories want something that might cause problems for the Conservative Party moved to a time that would increase potential problems for the Conservative Party.
I wonder why.0 -

They're important to us. Three out of Four countries within the United Kingdom would quite like to see election coverage and separate political party campaigning on devolved matters going as normal. I can't be bothered arguing with you any further on this. But your post and talking about a 'bunch of local elections' backs up the Daily Mail headline wonderfully.
This is little to do with the topic anyway. I only popped in here to let you know you'd missed out some vital info on First Ministers.. ie that you'd missed two of them out.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0
