On behalf of its members, the British International Freight Association (BIFA) has welcomed the entry into force of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement.
The trade association for UK freight forwarding and logistics companies notes that the ratifications by Chad, Jordan, Oman and Rwanda today means the deal has reached the pre-determined threshold of 110 WTO members required for its immediate entry into force.
Robert Keen, Director Genral of BIFA says: “This agreement aims to simplify and clarify international import and export procedures, customs formalities and transit requirements. It should make trade-related administration easier and less costly, thus helping to provide an important and much needed boost to global economic growth.
“If better border procedures and faster, smoother trade flows result from the agreement and help to revitalise global trade, BIFA members, which facilitate much of the UK’s visible trade, will benefit.”

U.K. Net Migration Hits 2-Year Low in Brexit Boost for May(Bloomberg) -- Net migration to the U.K. fell to its lowest in more than two years, providing a boost for Prime Minister Theresa May as she seeks to reduce the number of foreigners coming to Britain.
Those arriving to live or study for a minimum of one year outnumbered those leaving by 273,000 in the year through September, the Office for National Statistics in London said on Thursday. That’s down from a near-record 335,000 in the year prior the June vote to leave the European Union. Net migration from other European Union nations fell to 165,000.The latest period saw a “statistically significant” decrease in net migration from countries that joined the EU starting in 2004, though immigration from Bulgaria and Romania continued to increase.
“So it is too early to say what effect the referendum result has had on long-term international migration,” said Nicola White, head of international migration statistics at the ONS.0 -
The latest figures showed that there was a 56,000 increase in people LEAVING Britain after the vote

In Germany it seems that over 200,000 migrants were awaiting deportation at the end of 2016.Figures released by Statista from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) show that at the end of 2016, there were a total of 207,484 people living in the country who had been ordered to leave - a number roughly equivalent to the population of Mainz, state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate.Peter Altmaier, the chancellor's chief of staff and the government's coordinator for refugee affairs, said over the weekend that he expects Germany to deport a record number of people in 2017. But there is still some debate overwhich countries people can be sent toif their asylum applications are rejected, with many questioning the return of migrants to Afghanistan.0

The Germans are too conscious of their past history to detain them whilst awaiting deportation so they just cross the nearest border and try their luck there or simply drop off the radar.0 -
Question for you guys;
What would the EU 27 make of Parliament taking a vote on and rejecting the final deal, demanding May goes back and gets a better deal?
Surely the EU 27 would not entertain this having spent months negotiating in good faith?
Why would the 27 then trust us to be re-negotiating in good faith a second time, maybe a third?
Would not this extending of uncertainty be rejected by the 27?0 -

A question I asked months ago TBH...
The reality is that even if parliament gets their 'meaningful' vote, there will simply be no scope to negotiate. So take it or leave it will be the only options.0
