They can and do (FYI RM fulfil the service, not the PO)
However given Signed for items travel with normal mail. They need to be streamed out of the mail for scanning. so there is a far greater chance of them being missed vs Special Delivery that is separate from the mail form journey start to end.0 -
It was sent signed for 1st class.
I think it unreasonable that it should take 15-20 days for something to be delivered AND uploaded. The DVLA maintain they have received nothing.0 -
When the DVLA sign for something they will argue it is irrelevant as it then goes into the internal mail.
In my experience you will always lose in disputes like this with DVLA.
Even if they have clearly lost it after receiving it.0 -

Well you may think it. of course perhaps you shouldn't have chosen that service?
For around £6 you had the option of a service that is next day and fully tracked.
How does that weigh up vs a loss of £100 a day?0 -
Unfortunately I'm not aware of the inner workings of the postal service. I asked for something that is tracked so I would know it arrived and that's what I got.
I just didn't know it wasn't fully tracked and frankly I think it fair I put a little trust in the postal system not to loose it.0 -

How many disputes have you lost where you have proof they recieved something and they claimed they haven't?0 -

So what have you done about getting new documents? That's two more days pay you've lost.0 -
I've had Royal Mail contact me to confirm that indeed it appears lost. I've had DVLA do everything they can to check for me.
I'll be sending off new forms and more money in the morning.0 -
Post office receives a bigger profit for adding the signature on first class mail, that's why they advertise it as 'piece of mind' in main branches, although as stated above, it goes to the same bag with simple first class letters...
I've sent my ID to DVLA between Christmas and New Year via special delivery, no problems. Although that is also not always guaranteed...
Had a pleasure of working for a large post office brach - would never use them as a customer unless it's completely necessary. Very badly organised company.0 -
i used the post office service when my driving license photo was due.. got it back within 3 days all done and dusted..
special delivery is the only way to go with dvla if posting themSealed pot challenger # 10
