Discrimination on Boarding / Additional Travel ID

If you're waiting to board a plane and security staff ask for further ID, why would you stand there and argue the toss ? You showed them ID, they let you board the plane, maybe if you hadnt argued with them to begin with there wouldn't have been a problem ? Your "lack of cooperation" probably caused more issues than anything.
Lesson learned, next time you travel, always make sure you have 2 forms of ID with you.
And if you have no second form of ID? Keeping in mind that no regulation requires you to do so.0 -

So you're happy for airlines to accept a form of ID they aren't actually allowed to accept on the flight route?0 -

I wouldn't really be bothered as long as i was allowed to board the plane. As the OP wasn't sure whether this request for ID was correct or not, i would just have provided what i had and moved along.
From the OP's post, it sounds as though there was some sort of heated discussion as to whether they should have to provide it and the OP obviously felt differently. If someone told me they needed further ID, and i had it, i would just hand it over, i wouldn't be checking whether anyone else was asked the same question or making a scene asking why.
The OP claims they were denied boarding and were discriminated against and that the experience was "shocking" All a bit OTT really.0 -

do you live your life to the letter of regulations or do you use common sense? Or perhaps you are under 40 where the latter seems in short supply compared with older folk. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

You've not answered the question. If the OP couldn't provide any additional ID would it be right that they were denied boarding based on some made up requirement, or should they have been allowed to board making the made up requirement pointless?0 -

The were asking for additional ID, not letting OP fly with ID not allowed on that route. There's a difference.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

The thing is, you don't know what was flagged up against OP's name between checking in and reaching the departure gate. How many times have you seen people pulled from the queue in the final departure lounge or names called out over the tannoy for someone who has already gone through security?
And in OP's shoes, yes, I would have provided additional ID if it meant clearing my name which may have been mistaken with another person with the same/similar name.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Unless it is a domestic flight airlines are not allowed to accept a driving card under any circumstance, so OP was more than welcome to show one with a picture of Mickey Mouse and they aren't allowed to accept it as ID to board, they also aren't allowed to use it to refuse boarding. On a non-domestic flight it cannot be used in any circumstance.
Its nice to see airlines taking the aviation authority seriously!0 -

And still no answer to my question0 -

They already had valid ID, they had the OP's passport. They were asking for additional ID. not ID to allow the OP to board. Something obviously made them ask for further ID, we don't know what that something was.0
