hornetgirl wrote: »This morning I had occasion to write a cheque. It felt really strange, must be a couple of years since I last did one. In an unrelated transaction I sent a birthday card and the stamp cost more than the card. Both signs of the times I suppose.
Also sent off a little parcel to Keely. Many thanks to TM for highlighting this enterprising young lady. I'm reading a book called Without A Net at the moment. Although American so different welfare/benefit systems to us, it does show how frighteningly easy it is to become homeless.
That made me get my cheque book out to see now - it used to go everywhere with me and it has a neat leather cover, pockets for bank notes, 6 cards and 2 other full length packets so it was very useful and I miss using it, it now just sits by my desk.
it also feels very odd paying by cheque now and you really have to concentrate or make a mess.
The last ones I did were my membership subs for a comping club back in November -in theory I could just do a transfer now.
The builder also wanted a cheque in September last year for doing the bathroom - none of this go faster auto transfers for him.
and then there is the builders cheque for doing the boys bedroom which was August 2014
Then the window cleaner tends to call when I have no cash so there is the odd cheque for him.
And before that is was my ISA in April 2015
but looking at the first few there is one I gave to youngest son for uni for winter skills and he has been left home now for years so that must have been autumn 2012 - last one I had to write for him.
and sadly I had to write a cheque for the solicitor who dealt with my dads affairs so that would be November 2013

Good win. You do know that compensation is only ever paid to the person that was delayed? As it is compensation for the inconvenience etc. Also in the same situation, I paid for a flight for DS2 Summer 2013 and easyjet have at last caved in. Only after we signed up for the NWNF solicitors, so he should get about £160.
It should not be a problem as youngest son and OH have the same initials
Eldest son also had a delayed Monarch flight out of Larnaca to Manchester, delayed 24 hours. This was the year before the law changed about compensation but I think it is within the time frame allowed.
I don't have his flight number, booking ref or anything confirming his flight and I am not sure how to get this“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Just had an email from ebay, convert 1000 nectar points get 500 points back, by 24th jan.
Has anyone converted to use on ebay, is it worth it / straight forward to do??
tia
I had one of those emails last year and it was very straight forward.
I did the conversion but I had no idea what to spend £10 on so I just bought postage stamps - OK I paid above the cover price but they came the next day and its something you always need a stock of so 500 nectar points for £10 of stamps was still worth getting“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. That is annoying as I still haven't found it in stock. When did it disappear please, as it is not even hidden in the background to claim for today (it is for yesterday though).
