OK I give up, people on this thread have already told you they have their cars insured for any driver yet you continue to insist it can't happen.

    No they haven't.

Name me one person on this thread that has the any driver policy you've described. It sounds like you're the one that "should read what is written, not what you think is written"

Yes, its called trade insurance, which is for those working in the motor trade, many policies also only allow you to use the insurance policy during work. So if I for example was still working as a vehicle mechanic, I couldn't use the policy for personal use.

Its not at all hard to understand, yet the OP hasn't confirmed that her sister works in the motor trade, she also hasn't said if she has one of the few policies that allows the vehicle to be used for personal use.

I have cover for any driver with my permission who holds a valid licence. Not Trade insurance. Standard insurance through Hiscox.

There are three named drivers - plus in addition anyone with my permission who holds an appropriate full licence. The policy is also an agreed guaranteed valuation with no deductions for wear and tear. I also can drive any other car with full comp cover that is not ordinarily kept on my property. It covers me for personal and business use, have declared myself in my proper job as a musician, and though it is substantially more than a quote with Tesco etc for SCD, for a driver with less than 3 years experience, £820 on a Mercedes E220 is pretty reasonable (i'm in my mid 40's which helps).

Thank you for naming the company, its a great help.

Ah, so when it says one vehicle must be over £30,000 is that list price or purchase price? It does say it is for clients with two or more vehicles, so not something available to our OP.

Fair enough but it wasn't what you described earlier. You're earlier post mentioned that your policy allowed you to drive any car.

To me it came across as more of a rhetorical question, and did feel slightly loaded.

I too have any driver fully comp on my insurance and I can drive any car not normally kept at my address with fully comp cover (not third party as normal)...

    Perhaps I wasn't quite clear enough ;)

They aren't the cheapest, and I haven't had to claim against the policy as yet (touches wood) but the policy is very comprehensive. It is insured or business and personal use, for 20,000 miles a year.

Back on topic, I would advise the OP to borrow money from a friend or family member. Even if they paid them 50% gross interest, OP would be much better off than taking it to court.

If they send a producer which they might once the clerk processes the NIP, if there is no insurance her Sister will be getting six points.
So the point raised was a good one.

As to a car does not have insurance, yes it does.
Insurance is two components, personal and Road traffic act.
If a policy is held upon the car, it is covered for any driver for purposes of the road traffic act for third party liability only even if stolen.

The law makes several types of offence, a driver has to have a personal level of insurance or they can be prosecuted as in their own policy or be named or any driver.
So if a driver has no personal motor insurance any damages will be paid if the car has a policy but the driver without personal level of cover will be prosecuted for not having their own insurance or been named.

You can insure any car any driver, however it is extremely expensive indeed.
Hence why nobody except large firms usually have it.

As for the speeding fine, if it goes to court it will be around £435 total, which can be paid in 4 in instalments unless they are severe hardship circumstances in which the 12 month rule can be applied.
So the instalments wont be far of the first one.

It's a money making thing you see...
