Hi
We want to add a middle name for my daughter (under 16 yrs old)
What are the steps involved...processes...costs?
She is also due a passport....do we need certain documentation to prove the new name is in existence?
What happens when the passport expires? Will I need new proof of the change. Or when daughter wants to apply for Provisional driving licence etc
How do we ensure that it includes the new middle name0 -
The quoted website has a link down, I opened the HTML file and found the link should be to this page:
http://freedeedpoll.co.uk/free-deed-poll.cfm
My wife has just got her British Nationality now, so we're changing her drivers license now and her passport BEFORE she gets it!
The main issue is that she's been known by loads of different combinations of her actual name and common name, maiden name and married name, it was a real mess getting a mortgage, and I had to prove there were no more than 4 names she could have been called, and that we'd sent over 16 documents proving her names, so there must have been one combination of names that was present on four or more proofs!
It looks pretty official, and from what I've read on the CAB website, should be up to the job.

The Halifax refused to accept any of the free options when my daughter tried to change the name her account is held in. We had to pay £86 to have paperwork prepared by a solicitor in the end.0

Then the Halifax have broken the law. Sue them for damages?

Re your concern over paying out for your new passports last year - you do realise, you will have to change them if you change all your names?
I added my mothers maiden name as a middle name a few years back - eldest son did same, as otherwise the name would have ended at us.0 -
Do you have to have two wittnesses? I live with my single mother and she's the only person I could think about using as a witness as I've not spoken to my father in about 3 years and I'd rather not tell my friends about the name change?..0

I changed my name by deedpoll a couple of years ago, being tight fisted had a lit to do with it. My passport was up for renewal and didn't want to keep my x's name, didn't want to pay the passport fee double. So changed my name by deedpoll. Got my boss and supervisor to sign it.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
