Friday 8th January - What Small DFW-Style Things Will You Be Doing Today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:money:

I'm just off to bed and then I'm banking on a productive day ahead to kick start our 8th month of being debt-Free:
* Transfered money to Australia fund as it's PayDay.
* Clean outside of car.
* Chase up missing £30 gift voucher code.
* De-clutter laptop and make backups of photos and audio files.
* Source cheap high lumen, low Wattage lightbulbs.
* Shop around for new sunglasses for my birthday.
* Pop into mobile shop and ask about free mobile upgrade.
* Take out cash for a takeaway treat for tonight.
* Buy petrol in BP for Nectar points.
How about you lovely people?

Hi
Today, I plan to;
1. List a few horse rugs on eBay
2. Think about trying to sell unwanted jewellery and coins somehow (any tips?). I'm not desperate for money so would like a good price or I won't bother.
3. Use up some of the food in my cupboard and freezer.
4. Tidy up the conservatory, which I seem to be using as a junk repository!
5. I need to do a tidy/de clutter in each room. If I lived in a boat, I'd slowly sink under the weight of possessions....

Starting early today Ally! I haven't even had my lunchtime leftovers yet...
Quiet one today - busy at work at last. It's been boring here this last week.Looks like missus has been internet shopping again - good bargain on peanut oil
Busy
Friday
Working tomorrow
Just about time to queue for the microwave. Onwards!0 -
Morning Lovelies,
Happy Friday to all you workers who survived your 1st week back at work. Those that will be working over the weekend we salute you.
Todays list:
A little bit of housework.
Ironing (still leftover from Wednesday).
Check online banking.
NSD (hopefully)
Excitedly wait for the lady that bought my advertised furniture off Preloved. It didn't sell for much but it all helps.:j
Updates from yesterday; haven't yet heard about the part time job I applied for. As ever will keep looking. Still breathing a huge sigh of relief that the hubby actually rang SC on Wednesday, without any prompting (nagging) from me, to sort out his DMP with them. It was that easy even he was surprised.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
Stay safe people and keep smiling.Money scares me.
Honesty update will arrive shortly......:o0 -
Morning everyone. Thank goodness its Friday.
Puddlylove have you looked at the Kon-Marie thread on the old style forum. I became a bit of a Kon-Marie fan a year ago and it has made such a difference to my attitude towards possessions.
Dog to vet this morning. Our rescue dog is terrified of the vet so this could be traumatic. Then I need to get to work and will have to stay late to make the time up.
Debt-busting today:
1. Hm Burgers for tea, will take sandwiches for lunch.
2. Will leave washing over airer for now.
3. Need to investigate cheaper breakdown cover for car.
4. Some of vets fees will have to come out of emergency fund but no idea how much yet.
5. Spreadsheets to update later/tomorrow morning.
6. Will use heating sparingly and will light log burner later if necessary (free wood).0 -
Good morning everyone
Thanks for the start Ally - Australia fund looking fantastic!
I'm pleased to have made it to Friday. First week back is always tough but throw a couple of extras in there and it gets a bit unbearable... I feel tired, and am hoping for a bit of relax time Sunday - tomorrow isn't looking good for time to myself as the house is filthy and the kids clubs all start back.
So, for today I will:Check banking and PAD
Mark a set of books (now desperate)
Use my free time at work wisely
Print off my worksheets for next week and get them off for copying
Politely nag dh to make plans and lists
Get ds to football training
Do 1 thing from the 'annoying' list
Make time for exercise
Make time for crochet or knitting
Contact carers charity about the kids
Do a bit of web research for stuff to help dh
Minimise heating use (although it is freezing today)
Get the kids to join in with some jobs around the house
That's quite some list. Better make a start...
Have a good day everyone. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Gosh you lot get up early!
I was back at work yesterday and rushed off my feet so I didn't have time to post.
I have been writing down every single penny I spend. And in the space of 8 days I see that...
Because I don't do the food or cooking, but my DH is rubbish at planning meals, I keep getting asked to just pick up some blah blah blah and it is all adding up.
And the spontaneous things he suggests, he then expects me to pay for, like an awful meal at Jimmy Chung's that he had already told the kids we would do but that I then had to pay for.
So today:
Drop the kids at school and go to work
Lunch is leftover soup
Spend nothing
Decide what to say to DH over the weekend...
And thank goodness for a two day week - we are all exhausted at going back to school!
Have a good day everyone x0 -

Morning all.... a slow start for me: got up to make DD3's packed lunch then went back to bed for a last snuggle in my cosy covers. Up again now to wave her off to school.
I have few things on my list for today:
1. Small top up shop for weekend from Lidl or Aldi
2. Go to carphonew/h and try to get the £50 currys voucher that should have come with DD3's phone last week
3. Visit a couple of Chazza shops in the local area
4. Change duvet covers on bed
5. Try out my needle felting kit that I ordered.
Wishing everyone a great Friday! :beer:0
