I don't think it's a crime to display an ISIS flag...

Nor is carrying a chair leg in a bag but both actions can result in being shot.

It can be illegal under a couple of different legislative acts.

    Public order act 2006.
(1)A person is guilty of an offence if, with intent to cause a person harassment, alarm or distress, he—
(b)displays any writing, sign or other visible representation
which is threatening, abusive or insulting, thereby causing that or another person harassment, alarm or distress.
    or possibly
    Terrorism act 2000
(1)A person in a public place commits an offence if he—
(b)wears, carries or displays an article,
in such a way or in such circumstances as to arouse reasonable suspicion that he is a member or supporter of a proscribed organisation.

Not that I think anything would be done by the police.

    Off course it is.
Displaying a terrorist organization's flag means you are supporting them.
So in theory it is crime. :D

No. It doesn't mean you are supporting them. I can carry a Manchester United flag to a friends house for him...for that walk, am I a Manchester United supporter?

So because a flag is placed on the outside of a car, you think the police will shoot someone as they walk back to the car? Good work.

It can be illegal, but under the circumstances that I originally replied to, it is highly unlikely that someone would be arrested.

Ask Stephen Waldorf whether he thinks such a thing could happen.

I would normally send my OH out she will terrify anyone daring to park in front of our drive.

Can you send her round to Ken's house? :D

What does someone getting shot whilst sitting in a car in a case of mistaken identity have to do with a comment about someone getting shot by the police whilst walking to a car?

They are two entirely different scenarios.

    Plenty.

There are lots of "entirely different scenarios" in which innocent people have been shot by the Police.

If carrying a chair leg in a bag, running for a tube train or just sitting in a car can result in the Police shooting, then it is not unreasonable to foresee a situation where walking towards a car displaying an IS flag might also end badly.

Someone parked partially over my drive years ago.

When my ex husband got up at 4am to get ready for work he discovered it.

He had to ring the police as we had no idea what house & it was far too early to go knocking. The police came & they made the driver move his car, all before 5am.

    He didn't do it again.
