Is costco worth it?

the weight of the twin packs of ham is 2x 420g. It is very good value. Last week I got i pack of each type of meat, brilliant for packed lunches.
I buy tesco's crumbe ham at £3.50 for two packs. Each pack has 6 slices. I should have got the Costco one - I don't think I've noticed it, will look more closely next time I'm in..This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I used to get the same one as you from Tesco, and we still do when we run out of Costco meat (nearest branch is a 40 minute drive away). The Costco meat is of a much better quality as well IMO. In our branch it is kept in the chillers with doors on the front rather than the open chillers (where there is also some cooked meat).
I just wish Costco sold fuel and had a better website. The US website is really good, it shows everything they sell, and you can search, the UK version is practically useless apart from finding out where your nearest store is.0 -
Right here's the result of my cost comparison
Spend £92 on goods from costco
These would have cost £135 in Asda
I have saved £43
You dancer, why more people dont shop there I do not knowThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
After much humming and hawing, have finally joined Costco.
H/B was delighted to get man's Crocs for £19+VAT as they are £39 elsewhere when you can find them.
Also good for American goodies (peanut butter!), and 15kg of Bakers dogfood = should last a while if the mutts don't go off it!
I think it pays to shop around because not everything is cheap, and you have to weigh up the pros and cons of having large amounts of perishable food especially if there's only 2 of you.
On balance, it's worth doing.Blagged: free samples of handwash from Molton Brown; booklet of walks from Brecon Carreg;
Free Diabetes monitor, free bee-friendly seeds, a MINI coin and a splash-proof book from Radox.:T0 -
I tend to do an online Tesco shop, print it off so I have all the prices, but don't 'place' the order and then take this with me for a price comparison - slightly anally retentive but works for us0

Definitely some things are more expensive, I guess you just have to do a bit of research and then when you get a 'feel' for things you know what to shop for. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

A friend of mine said that recently when she was at the checkouts she noticed people had reduced items of the deli counter - she wasn't sure how much they had been reduced to but said that the labels had been crossed through and new lower prices to clear had been written on.
Has anybody any info about this - just thought they might clear stuff today with them not being open tomorrow - could do with filling my freezer. Sorry if already posted somewhere else, I did do a search and couldn't find anything.
TIA

I've never seen any food sold at reduced/to clear prices, I always thought they just threw it away! We noticed one day that the sell by date on the big packs of ham was that day so asked if they were going to be reduced. The manager told us that they did not reduce to clear so we asked if they were given away to a local soup kitchen/hostel and was told that they just throw them away - "Costco's policy". There must have been 10+ packs at 1.5kgs each...such a waste. Would be interested to know if they have changed their policy.0
