- washing up powder

- ginger ale
- soft drinks/wine/beer
- part baked bread
- crossaints
- muffins
- lamb, mince, chicken
- cooked chicken, cooked spareribs and chicken wings
- frozen foods
- cheese, milk youghurt
- socks, shoes, trainers, clothes, night clothes
At christmas time the decorations and goodies are wonderful
I definately wouldn't cancel and we enjoy going. I find i go there alot more than to Makro..This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Mrs Spock and I have been members for 2 years now. We regularly buy baby wipes and nappies. Other staples include Kirkland AA and AAA batteries, Newman's own Grape Juice, Washing Powder and Fabric Softener, Tissues etc.
Great bargains include:
Hornby Intercity 125 Train Set for less than £40 (usually about £120 I believe)
Brabantia Ironing Board for about £30 (nearer £100 elsewhere)
Meade Autostar Telescope for about £120
Plastic Shed (massive) for £400, RRP = £800.
It also seems to be good for electronics, I got a Philips 250gb HDD/DVD recorder at a massive saving, but it went kaput after a year, they changed it no questions asked for a Sony.0 -
I go there about once a month, although sometimes I only buy a few things. But some of my favourite prices:
1kg prawns (I think, might even have been 1.5kg) for about 8 quid. And these were BIG prawns, the kind you see in supermarkets as "Jumbo King Prawns" and pay £2 for 180g.
Soap and other toiletries - you can find some real bargains in that department.
24 cans of Irn-Bru for £4.50 (ish). Haven't bought those for a while baecause I'm losing weight.
30 500ml bottles of Harrogate Spa water for about 4 quid.0 -
some more of our faves now we've been a few times:
the two packs of sliced bread, lovely quality and stays nice £1.89 (?) for the two
sliced meats in the chiller cabinet - not the area where the raw meats and deli stuff is but near the bacon in the upright fridges - they do 2 packs of sliced chicken breast - ingredients list is chicken and salt, lol! I think it is £4 ish for two quite large packs and the chicken is nice proper chicken not the moulded together stuff, just the same as if you'd roasted one yourself, makes lovely sandwiches and am going to try heating it through and serving with roast dinner stuff for the kids.
Huuuge bags of kettle chips £2.790 -
Got a great wireless printer today - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6704582/Trail/searchtext%3ELEXMARK+PRINTER.htm
£146.79 at Argos - £60.70ish at Costco0 -
Probably off to Costco this afternoon for a monthly top up of some essentials.
I will report back if I find any bargains on other non essentials.0 -
We went yesterday armed with some recent Tesco receipts to check that items were bargainacious.
We found Schweps Lemo (partly a treat as we usually get cheapo lemo), pasatta, corona larger, granulated sugar (which I whizz to make it finer and use it just like caster sugar for baking, but cheaper), Purdy's and scourers to all be cheaper.0 -

Further to my post above we did go to Costco for some essentials.
It is a pity that they have changed the size of the box that Kirkland Baby Wipes come in, they are now quite expensive and in an enormous box. We got huggies ones, which were at a good price, but we don't like them so much.
We also bought a twin pack of sliced bread that mum 26 mentioned upthread, very nice it is too.
The twin packs of sliced ham at £4.99 for 32 slices is also very good value and nice quality ham. Beats £3.50 odd for 12 slices at Tesco.
We renewed our membership for the year and got a 4 pack of muffins free of charge.
It is a pity they seem to have stopped selling the Kirkland Cube boxes of tissues. They were good value at about £10 for a case and they looked pretty good in any room, as there was an assortment of colours in the box.0 -
Costco has excellent meat, in both quality and price.
The cakes are so huge, it's serious party food. We need a large cake for our DDs birthday this year and they fit the bill beautifully. They also do great packs of muffins/danish pastries/croissants/cookies etc.. (these can be split and freeze well).
always some nice bargains0 -
Has anyone seen the fireproof/waterproof safe boxes that Costco are doing? Am thinking of getting one - looks like a good price at approx £30This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
